Facebook Messenger not connecting :S

Hi!

I'm using facebook messenger and everytime I run the app I get the following error -

"there was a problem connecting to Facebook please check your connection and try again"

The only way I can fix this is by logging out and then logging back in again. But that fix only lasts until I use the app again.

I tried a google search for this error but nothing popped up.

Would appreciate if someone could help me out.

I use facebook messenger without any problems. :blink:

Do you have background data enabled? Note that background data is seperate from any form of syncing, I have syncing disabled.

You can also try menu -> refresh in messenger?

Background data has always been enabled. I have refreshed it many times but it keeps giving me the error.. Any other suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem. I have tried it on 3 different roms and none have solved the problem. When I click the Messenger icon on the menu it opens then comes up with the 'problem connecting....' message. However I do sometimes receive a notification of a new message and when I use the pull down notification bar on the ZTE Blade it does occasionally let me view the message, providing it is from an individual person, group ones don't work at all. Any suggestions??
