Guest stonebear Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) I can send a file to the phone using bluetooth file transfer but I want to be able to access my PC using ES file explorer and ES file explorer can "see" my PC but can't connect. I assume this because I am paired but not connected? How do I connect? Edited December 13, 2011 by stonebear
Guest Smeelious Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) Try transferring a file or something. It should work as is. Which is does apparently. It'll "connect" for a headset (phone or audio) I honestly just share folders on my computer and add them as servers in ES over wifi. Edited December 13, 2011 by Smeelious

Guest Smeelious Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 OK thanks, how do you do that please? Share folders the normal way. (I"ve had issues with specific permissions, so I just disable the nonsense) Head into ES, swipe right to left. Hit the "+" sign to add a server. Select scan. select the ip of the computer you are sharing from. Find the folders.

Asks for a username and password but I don't have thos setup. edit How do I share the folder, I only see the option to share with "homegroup". Edited December 13, 2011 by stonebear

Guest stonebear Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 do you have advanced share or soemthing like this? I have Homegroup or "specific people", only just noticed that option.
Guest TechnoLover Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 try to look here: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/simple-windows-7-file-sharing-step-by-step-procedure/ @ sharing with router
Guest stonebear Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 I was only right clicking to share folder, I should have gone into properties and just ticked "share"? Done that now. What I would like to know is how to create the new serverin ES file explorer, it has "Domain", whic I can leave empty, "server" do I put in the IP address or IP address/folder?
Guest stonebear Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) try to look here: http://www.addictive...step-procedure/ @ sharing with router I don't think I need that, I am nearly there now I think. :) Or not... Edited December 13, 2011 by stonebear

Guest stonebear Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Could the problem be that I don't have a password on my PC?

YOu should be able to do a scan when adding a new server. It should find it for you. Or Menu --> New --> Scan.
Guest stonebear Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) YOu should be able to do a scan when adding a new server. It should find it for you. Or Menu --> New --> Scan. If I do that it sees my PC but when I tap it it says "log in failure, try new username or password".....so then I put the name of the pc for username and leave password blank because the pc doesn't have one. Still get login failure. If I "long tap" it and bring up "edit" it has my ip so I tried adding "/<name of shared folder>" at the end of that but still nothing. Edited December 13, 2011 by stonebear
Guest stonebear Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Done it! I was right, it was the lack of password. I went into "network and sharing" and ticked "turn off password protected sharing". And now it works. :) I had already done the scan and found the PC but it wouldn't connect because of that. Now it does.
Guest stonebear Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) Another problem! It now sees my shared folders but when I click on one I get "login failure, this may be because the account has no permissions". LOL Oh well, at least now I can see the folders...just another hurdle. Guest stonebear Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) Permissions are set to "Administrators" (full control) and "Everyone" (full control). As far as I can see it should be working. Sigh. Need a sleep before I come back to this. Thanks for the help guys. :) One last edit- I can see all my shared folders but the only one I can access is "Users". The "permissions" for that is the same as the permissions for the others. The only thing different about "users" folder is that it is on my "C" drive. The other shared folders are on my "F" drive. Edited December 13, 2011 by stonebear
Guest stonebear Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) I had to select "everyone" in the share options... Amazing how the mind clears after a rest, lol. I just connected to my laptop, which also has no password and had disable "password protected sharing" again in network options. I think I was quite inspired guessing that one, lol. Although if I had guessed sooner it would have saved about an hour! Edited December 14, 2011 by stonebear
