Guest ThibautD Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Hello everyone, This weekend I might buy me a new LM and plan to root it so I can use link2sd. I have been reading and surfing the web to find an easy way of doing this and have found this topic: http://android.modaco.com/topic/342583-recovery-cwm-recovery-for-liquidmt-v30/ This would probably be the easiest way of rooting my phone? When surfing the web I have also found some youtube movies that show the rooting by using an app. You just download the app and it does everyting for you. Being a total newbie at the rooting process and the smartphones I would like to know what would be the safest and easiest way. I know this is already written in several topics but I can't really make out what all the terms mean "flashing" and stuff. Thanks in advance!
Guest Smeelious Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Actually k0zmic's guide is well done in plain language http://android.modaco.com/topic/346043-how-to-install-a-custom-rom-partition-your-sd-root/ It even has a section on how to do exactly what you want to do. "How to Root Non-Rooted ROM's"
Guest ThibautD Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Hmm, I missed that one. Thought it was only about installing a custom rom. ANyway I have a question about point 3: "3.) Now turn off the phone and boot into recovery mode Volume Up + Focus + Power (For ClockworkMod). Down + Focus (Press Camera button Gently) + Power for AmonRA. " Does this mean I have to install Clockworkmod or AmonRa before rooting? Or will it work on a stock Acer LM aswell?
Guest TechnoLover Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 One of these recovery have to be installed ;)
Guest ThibautD Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 Just to be 100% sure, CWM = ClockWorkMod? I'm sorry for these stupid questions, but I don't want to break my phone ...
