Phone - ZTE Blade orange sanfrancisco

Hey guys, i been on i think swedish spring rsl5 for about a year or so nearly now, been stuck on 2.2 rom, better than the stock.

But the phone sometimes lags, and games are sometimes slow. The main problem is dolphin browser that lags when typing. Also i heard android 2.3 is far better than 2.2

so would you say going from SSRSL5 to Cyanogen is a good idea?

Also which version of cyanogen should i go to?

I keep hearing alot of bug stories where the phone gets stuck on the startup screen when installing Cyanogen.

Is this the best guide to use for installing cyanogen? Any chance of brick if i use this guide?

http://android.modac...zte-blade-gen1/

my phone is definately gen 1 btw.

EDIT:

btw my main thing is, how do i change roms without deleting everything. I have alot of files, and favourites on my browsers and other apps, i dont want to have to go through everything and research everything.

So what should i do here?

not sure about other questions, but download opera mobile, will give fast internet browsing (i used to use dolphin which is so slow in comparison ) and since you have to wipe phone before flashing rom, use titanium backup to backup apps and mybackup root to backup bookmarks ( i think ) playlists, texts etc

Opera mini (not mobile) will give you the absolute fastest and smoothest mobile browsing. It's all rendered remotely, all that gets sent to the phone is customised for the small mini client.

The only downside of mini is if you're relying heavily on an AJAX-ish site, in that case fire up another browser for those sites.

I believe CM7 is GEN2 only, so to move to 7 you will need to move from Gen1 to Gen2 first. Look around in the ROM customisation subforum - there are guides to tell you how to do that.

damit only gen 2 :( awww....

how do i safely go from gen 1 to gen 2 while on a rom that only accepts gen 1 and then go to a gen 2 rom? Any ideas?

can you link me to the guide?

BTW is it safe to reroot your phone, i already rooted it when flashing SSRSL5, but im not sure if its still rooted. And should i reinstall clockworks, i dont know which version i have, and is it safe to install a new version?

and i found this thing

http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/ZTE_Blade_%28Gen1%29:_Radio_Conversion_and_Recovery

it says i have to convert to gen1togen2.

Download the Gen1-to-Gen2 Total Phone Transfer:
  • Gen1-to-Gen2 Total Phone Transfer v7: Download md5: c10cd48bbfb8e2c16384ebb49e06eb5c

is this only for the radio or is this for the whole thing?

Warning: Upgrading the radio to Gen2 will void the warranty.

Do i have to upgrade the radio? what happens if i dont? I dont wanna void my warranty in a way where i cant go back to the original. Because currently if soemthing goes wrong i can quickly go back to the original stock rom and my warranty is back.

I upgraded my phone to GEN2 so that I could update from RLS5 to CM7. I wondered what all the fuss was about. Gingerbread does not add that many features, did not run any faster, did not solve my WIFI problem and the CM7 version I downloaded did not even come with the Google pack installed (which was not exactly clear on the about / download pages). I also tried another popular Gingerbread ROM which at least did have the Google pack, but the dev had been messing with the code trying to get the power button LED to flash as a notification, but this was done incorrectly and I got fed up with it constantly lit.

I ended up going back to RLS5.

You have to remember that the Blade has quite a slow processor so some games will not run smoothly .... But I do find that Dolphin Browser Mini runs OK.

CM7 is a lot faster than 2.2, My wifi started working well when I switched to CM7 (Used to drop out and require turning off and on)

The only thing I changed on CM7 was the launcher, I swapped to launcherpro and it felt more smooth.

Also try turning on 16bit transparency (or something like that) In CM settings then performance.

EDIT,

If you move from GEN1 to GEN2 Please PLEASE use the wbaw TPT method, So much better than the windows flashing method.

You can install Moldovan Mile High Mountain Pie. I'm running that and I'm still GEN1 :)

It's a new 2.3.5 ROM with great speed and less of the bugginess of cyanogenmod.
