Spelling words into Android's voice recognition

Does anyone know how to enter a word into Android's voice recognition by spelling it? It recognizes the letters of the alphabet and numbers, but every time I try to spell a word, it puts spaces between the characters. For example, saying "how", spelling the word "are", then saying "you" produces "how a r e you".

Being able to spell words would allow street addresses to be entered into the GPS destination, for example.
