If Google thinks you are in the US while you sign up you can. After that it doesn't matter where you use it from.

Yeah that's how it used to be too.

Apparently if you get invited you can use it even if you are outside the us.

Anyone fancy inviting me? We could go a sort o invite tree like we did for Google+ :P

There are no invites anymore. Anyone using a US-proxy can sign up. After sign-up you don't need to fool google that you're from the US.

I am using this currently, works fantastically on my Advent Vega (running Honey Ice b2.2) however it's a bit laggy on my Blade, swiping between screens is anything but smooth :/
