skate not booting into recovery

im tryin to boot into recovery to install the atomic 2.0 rom, ive downloaded atomic renamed the zip to update.zip, used rom manager to clockwork mod and it wont go into recovery mode, is there anything im missing

If you've flashed CWM, you need to boot up by holding menu & volume down, then pressing power.

Oh wait I just noticed you installed it via Rom Manager. You can't do that as it doesn't support the ZTE Skate, you need to flash the one in the stickies on this forum.

ok so just downloadr4-4.0.1.4-skate-clockworkmod run the .bat and then boot into recovery like u said? do i need to wipe previous data before i click update.zip? thanks

Follow the instructions in the thread for the clockwork mod install and you'll be fine. And yes, I highly recommend you wipe data before installing the custom ROM of your choice.

OK it seems to have worked now thanks, but one more quick question, do i need to root the device again? ive also unlocked it, will this all still be rooted and unlocked?

If you've unlocked it once, then it will stay unlocked forever now. As for rooting, you only need to root if you are using an official stock ROM. As far as I'm aware, all of the custom ROMs available for the Skate are already rooted and ready to go.

you dont need to root again if the rom allready has super user in it. I explained it noob friendly in the tutorial in my signature.
