Guest Mark Dearlove Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Samsung have today announced which of their devices will be getting an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich and surprisingly the Galaxy S is not one of them. The upgrades will start with the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S II in the first quarter of 2012. These will be followed soon after by: GALAXY RGALAXY Tab 10.1GALAXY Tab 8.9GALAXY Tab 7.7GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus Samsung will make separate announcements for these devices nearer to release time. Based on the comments on the announcement page, there are sure to be a lot of disgruntled Galaxy S owners who are looking for a slice of the ICS goodness. Fortunately it looks like CyanogenMod 9 will allow Galaxy S users to get ICS - in fact there is already a very early build available from Teamhacksung over on the XDA forums. Guest hecatae Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 so no Galaxy W, or Galaxy S Plus? not surprised all the Armv6 devices are missing, the Ace, Gio, Mini etc
Guest Simon O Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Slightly surprised by the Galaxy S not being updated but I can understand that Samsung would rather sell nice new Galaxy S 2 phones to people. No updates for ARM6 devices makes sense right now since AOSP doesn't support them and Code Aurora only has limited support for them. If ARM6 is ever fully supported by ICS then it won't be for another month or two.
Guest ThermalDroid Posted December 26, 2011 Report Posted December 26, 2011 No galaxy w or S plus is very odd
