Guest blimsch Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 hey guys, got my mt a few weeks ago (my first android, so i'm not quite familiar with this stuff) and i'm becoming desperate while trying to setup a vpn... i installed gingerouay and well... now the trouble begins. i tried to read through the posts here and i'm not sure... is the vpn set up and ready to use in the 3.0.1 gingerounay rom? i also tried to run the openvpn-installer and -settings, got a tun.ko (although i don't know if i really need one) but i don't manage to get any configuration files and certs... so as you can see i have no clue what i'm doing here... :D help would be really appreciated.

Nasty topic indeed, my friend! I went mad surfing here and there... There are various topic on this forum too but the only solution working for me was using the android built in L2TP vpn. Ultra easy, working great.
Guest !gm Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 I do use openvpn with a tun.koed, busyboxed, rooted stock 4.000.13 Rom (technolovers kernel) and it's working like a charm (bridging, certificates) :) make sure that you insmod the tun.ko via openvpn-settings.. and that you use the static openvpn build, instead of the one, that comes with openvpn-installer http://code.google.com/p/android-openvpn-settings/issues/detail?id=26 btw. Friedrich Schaeuffelhut did really a great job for general openvpn tutorials, consult the openvpn documentation http://www.openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/documentation.html
