New Guide To Help Novice Users Understand

Hi all, I've compiled a bit more of a comprehensive guide for people like me who are hard of understanding!

And I was just wondering if It would be useful, and with relevant permissions I'd be able to put it on here for other people to use.

I finally Unlocked, flashed clockworkmod and flashed a Rom today after many many hours of trying, as their is so much useful information spread throughout the threads I thought I'd compile a bit of an idiots guide, giving a bit more detail about the whole process from start to finish.

Anyway just wondering who would have to check it over(if anyone), and how to make sure the relevant thanks and permissions from all the other contributors was ensured as its not that any one of their tutorials are bad, they are indeed excellent!, its just so much useful stuff spread everywhere and if I knew the stuff I know now from what I've had to read through then this guide would have made things much easier to understand. And I think that what I've added could help a lot of people that are getting stuck in places.

Many thanks

A newbies viewpoint....

I got stuck several times and I do appreciate the effort put in by everyone - the biggest problem for me was depth of understanding.

It seems likely that the people writing the guides (in some places) are looking at what's been written and while it's seems clear enough - to someone with depth of knowledge - it certainly wasn't (still isn't in some places) that clear to me.

That said - I did eventually manage to get it unlocked and CM7 on - windows drivers being by far the worst part.

Information on why each step needs to be carried out and if it applies to you (or your phone) would have made a huge difference - I had to guess whether some steps were necessary and carry out some steps repeatedly until I got them to work - most confusing was the battery in/out routine - I still don't know which steps required the battery in or out (or why) - I ended up both removing and replacing the battery with the phone on, on certain steps.

Has anyone considered a flowchart ?

Anyway, hopefully some of this feedback will be of use.

Many thanks to everyone who helped me get this far...

@Skate Away:

The battery in-out thing is only if you are stuck. And that only happens if you dont have the right drivers.

@ Romtastic:

I also tried making a noob proof FAQ that contains everything some one could need. If you have things to add or things that could be explained better i am willing to add them.

where are you on this, I would certainly like to see another guide, all are helpful, but I'm hoping for one aimed at an utter utter noob like me, I eventually got my omc unlocked and now want to root and install custom rom
