Stupid question re: Charging the battery (Fast/Trickle charge)

Hey guys,

I have a quick question about charging the battery in my ZTE Skate (Orange Monte Carlo). With the phone plugged into the mains power to charge - Easy Battery Saver (application) considers this a "Fast charge". The same applies when I plug the phone into my Macbook Pro to charge off the USB port.

I noticed that in the Battery Saver application, there is a "Trickle Charge" indicator - but this is never used.... is there a way to trickle charge the phone? and does it offer any advantages in terms of battery life / longevity?
