Hi Guys,

Sorry of a noob to Android so dont know that much. Basically I have a ZTE Skate which I bought from Orange a the Orange Monte Carlo three weeks ago. I unlocked it using GiffGff Tutorial which was orignially orignated from Modaco. However the phone worked fine until the last three days when the apps kept closing etc. My sister took the battery out trying to be a hero and no when boot up it is stuck on Orange Screen.

I was planning to install custom rom atom by tilly I think it is. So I dont mind that the phone has stopped working. The problem is I need to go back to a stock rom of ZTE to install clockwork recovery and enable usb debugging. However I am trying to use offline updater. I click on the download.exe file is says \files\partition.mbn is not exist, please select again. The apps open and I am able to boot in ZTM mode but when I click start it says Line1: cant open partition.mbn

So what do I do you clever guys?

p.s. I have tried some stock roms. If you know one which works pleae provide link

also I think I am putting files in wrong location I put it in files

I have uploaded offline updater etracted and two roms I have tried

Can't you use steps 17 and 18? It'd install ClockworkMod which will allow you to then flash any ROM from the phone.

I love how GiffGaff rip off the unlock procedure but fail to provide any support whatsoever.

Don't panic,if it still shows android logo it is not bricked so you can install clockworkmod.

It is very easy process:

Look at part 9b and 9c. Personally I'd try flashing the stock Orange TPT from here.

The guide has the key combination wrong though. Its volume up + menu + power. FYI I'm not responsible if this makes things worse for you, although I'm not sure how much worse it could get for you anyway ;)

How do you do TPT?

1) download tpt to your pc

2) extract the zip file which will leave you with a folder called image

3) place this folder on the root of sd card and power off device

4) power on device whilst holding menu and volume up (all at same time)

5) you will now see a progress bar, after which you will reboot into stock android 2.3.5

You can now boot into recovery and flash your desired rom :D

Download stock 2.3.5 tpt here:

I am trying to do that with my OMC. However if I boot up the phone with or without pressing home button and volume + at the same time it just vibrates constantly. however if i connect it to a usb wire with a computer the android man will come up and soon followed by the orange logo animation. Also I see you description that you have atomic custom rom is it any good and how is the battery life because i want to install it after i get this sorted

Ok so tpt worked but it did not boot into the rom ?

So now when you power on while holding volume down there no clockwork menu ?

Remember that when holding volume down whilst powering on,you must hold volume down till you feel it vibrate twice, then you should see clockwork.

So with device off, hold power button & volume down, you can release power button on first vibrate, but volume remains held until second vibrate.Do this and report back what happens.

And yes the atomic rom is good.....

In fact it is Awesome :D

Ok I tried it again put it goes to 100% update sucessful then restart. Then when you press just power button it consistently vibrates. The only way I can get the android man is by taking battery out sticking in a usb cable and the doing the tpt procedure then tpt proceeds without battery. i have tried getting into tpt without battery and then putting in battery and nothing. i dont think its a serious problem but i dont want to give it back to orange because it will take weeks for them to fix it as have past 14 days for replacement instant or refund. btw im not using stock rom im using orange stock omc rom. i tried the link you gave me but it didnt work when extracted file as the ornage stock omc has image.bin and boots into tpt where as your link has several files and boots into nothing. thanks for your help and also is their any more help you can give me. also does music player work in atomic rom

Excellent news!

Yes install Atomic, its worth it believe me!

1) download Atomic to sd card

2) power off then power on with volume down till you see clockworkmod

3) wipe data/factory reset

4) wipe cache

5) go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache

6) install zip from sd card(Atomic)

7) reboot and enjoy :D

Note: you can reboot into recovery if you have a reboot app from market, which saves you having to power off in order to boot into recovery.

Ok so I need to install clockwordmod recovery first. Also can I restore to stock orange monte carlo because if install custom tom it ruins warranty so by restoring to stock they wont find out.

Yes install clockworkmod,it is in the pinned topics, make sure your computer has drivers installed. If you connected to your computer with stock rom, all the correct drivers should be installed. It is then just a simple matter of enabling USB debugging in your device settings, followed by 1 click on windows.bat file that is in the clockwork zip you download, assuming your machine is windows.

Yes returning to orange is easy, just download the stock zip from pinned topics and you will be back on orange stock rom.

1) there is no 9c...

2) the guide clearly states:

Then Safely remove the SD card, put it back in your mobile and power on with “volume up + power” held until you see a black screen with green letters like the video below. In some cases the button combination does not work you could try “volume up + menu + power”
