If you did 'Wipe data/factory reset' your OS will not be gone....as far as i know it is near impossible to wipe off your OS completely!.

The only way i can think is you flash a new rom and then your battery dies, that is the only way i can think this would happen.

Yes you can flash a OS via ODIN, make sure to have Kies installed but not running. (This is to make sure you have the correct drivers)

To get a list of stock sammy firmwares go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928

For insecure kernals (for rooting again): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101671

And finally for CF root (I would recommend this over using a insecure kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399

Hope this helps!, If it does give a thanks (we should really have a Thanks button :))

assuming your phone still can boot up, since you mentioned that you can connect your phone to PC. you can simply do a hard reset by dialing *2767*3855# from your phone pad then phone will hard reset, this should bring your storage back, but you will lose your data.
