Guest deerang Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 I just bought a brand new ZTE Blade simfree with gingerbread as stock ( no custom roms, no rooting ). The phone will simply not connect to my NETGEAR WNR1000v2 router. Every other device i have tried connects with no problem. The blade can see my router but when i try to connect it just goes through a connect/disconnect cycle or it trys to connect once, fails and then connects to my neighbours unsecured network. Im totally baffled, it wont even find my routers ip address. I have looked everywhere on the net to find if anyone has had a similar problem but there is nothing. I have also tried installing WifiFix and that doesnt help. There must be some kind of setting in the router that is stopping it from connecting but because i can find no information on the net about my problem i have no idea what setting needs to be changed. I find it hard to believe that my router is incompatible with the Blade otherwise i would have found that information somewhere. The router has NEvER had problems connecting to anything, even my 3DS connects fine. Replacing the router is an option but i would rather not because i have no other problems with it so if anyone has a possible fix or has found information that i have not it would be very helpfull. Btw no firmware updates are available for my router so thats not an option.
Guest Davidoff59 Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Just a thought but could it be that whatever encryption password you are using is not compatible? Have you tried a different one as in wep, wpa, and I think the other one is wpa-psk.
Guest Watashi_PT Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Zte blade only support "b/g". Check if your is "n"
Guest deerang Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 Zte blade only support "b/g". Check if your is "n" changed it to b/g mode, still won't connect, turned of WMM and still wont connect. i find it odd that it will only try to connect once and then connects to my nieghbours Linksys, could he be running on the same channel as me ?
Guest ColdEmbrace Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 As a thought, do you have WPS? Wireless Protected Setup enabled, it seems to be default on new routers. It caused issues with my devices when setting up the wireless connection. If so disabling it may help.
Guest kram23 Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 I think its a problem with Netgear. I have a DG834Gv5 and I often get the cycling of connectin-disconnecting thing, and its not just with my phone, my dads laptop gets it too, windows can see it but the router wont let it connect. The only way I can get either of them to connect is to reboot the router or just switch it off and on again whilst swearing at it and my self for being too cheap to buy another router.
Guest darren_ Posted January 10, 2012 Report Posted January 10, 2012 I've had a similar problem with my Zoom ADSL x6 modem for the last year and have yet to find a complete solution. All my other wifi devices work fine with it. I bought an Android Acer LM phone .... and that does exactly the same as the Blade. Some people find that allocating a non-zero DHCP lease time solves it, and you could also get your DHCP server to allocate a fixed IP address. I do find the situation with the Blade is better after changing to GEN2 with Swedish Spring RLS5.
Guest aaujt74 Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 The only way I can get new things to connect to my router the first time is to reboot the router.
