Guest GoodGosh Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Hi there, I'm trying to flash my friends phone with the latest Cyanogen. I have already successfully flashed my own phone via Rom Manager with no problems. His phone seems to end up buggy though. Like for instance after I've installed using Rom Manager the Giant Android still appears at boot whereas on mine it's the small neat Andoid. Also, his internet is very very very slow, it works but takes ages and I've made sure all the settings are correct as he's on the same network as me o2. Random things keeps disappearing every time I try a new flash like for instance the Market Place icon has disappeared so he can't download anything from there. The icons on the home page like Contacts and Internet dissappeared too. I have tried clearing cache etc but to no avail. Is there something I could be missing? I did try a search for failed flash but I couldn't find anything relating to this problem type. Thanks very much for any advice
Guest doogsville Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 A strange problem indeed. Have you tried flashing a different ROM to see if it still happens? When you say the latest Cyanogen, do you mean the latest nightly or the latest stable version?
Guest bladebuddy Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 I have a similar problem with my phone. I have a large android man on bootup instead of a small one. In my case the results are positive. MY Widgets reload on Booth e.g sense analog clock, power controlled e.t.c, I always had to reload them before after switch off or after connection to p.c file transfer. I also tried a search and could only get info on resized bootup animation. What I think has happened is that the phones internal memory is divided into to separate partisions as my internal memory also increased with the large android logo and I believe I may have installed the tomorrow in the wrong partition. This is just a guess as my home p.c has a quick boot that let's me surf the net e.t.c and also a separate partition where x.p is accessed and I think it could be the same on the Z.T.E blade. Like yourself any more information from someone who knows for sure what as happened would be greatly appreciated. Hope this helped.
Guest ColdEmbrace Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 The large android is installed with the Gen2 TPT V10 from wbaw. There is nothing wrong with that I changed it due to personal annoyance but it should make no difference to how the phone runs. Try rebooting the phone a few times, this usually helps when I am having icon issues.
Guest bladebuddy Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 (edited) This also happened on Gen 1 running sweedish spring rls5 so is this normal as usually after reboot I always need to reinstall Widgets, but since the large android icon not only does Widgets reload but also sense analog clock widget says I have more memory? Also today I installed gsf on my sons white Gen 1 blade which through messing with I also had large android icon before tpt to Gen to 2. I own amoled black Gen 1, white Gen 1 both now Gen 2 both having similar problems due to my inexperience messing around installing different roms before upgrading via tpt to Gen 2 also own San Francisco 2 yet to have the same problem . So can you please verify where I am going wrong as there must be more 2 it then what you r saying. Do not mean to be rude but there must be more to it then what you stated cheers J Edited January 12, 2012 by bladebuddy
Guest GoodGosh Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I tried exchanging micro SD cards and sim cards using all possible variations but still there are widgets missing. When I use my own Sim card the Internet functions ok but the Market Place widget is still not there. I tried installing Ginger Fry but now I've got a new problem when I reboot I get the error message 'The process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. But I can't turn it off even when pressing Force Close. When I hold down the Power Button I still don't get any options it just lingers on Sorry Force Close. Another message says Application Wizard has stopped. You think it might be the phone's internal chip that is stopping it from updating? As I said before I updated my own phone with no problems and it's the exact same model of phone
Guest bladebuddy Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) Have you tried pulling the battery out rebooting into clock work wiping dalvic in advanced settings then wipe cash factory resett then reboot rom after that Google should alow you to redownload apps make sure you format sd card that has worked for me in the past Edited January 14, 2012 by bladebuddy
Guest targetbsp Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) When you go to gen 2, different versions of the TPT used to convert leave you with different Androids. When flashing a new rom, you may have to reflash GAPPS (which includes the market) Apps moved to the SD Card will lose their widgets on reboot or other dismount of the SD card (such as a pc file transfer via usb). Apps whose widgets you use should be kept in internal memory. As should your launcher and usually, your default keyboard. Edited January 14, 2012 by targetbsp
