What is GEN 3

hi friends,

Am NeiL

I recently purchased a Dell XCD35 aka Zte Blade.

It was a GEN 2 mobile phone.

I am verymuch new to android n smartphones,my friend just installed CM7 on it.

How is GEN 3 different from GEN 2 ?

I am also facing some issues regarding -

1.Sound. (bad sound quality)

2.Battery.(does not go even for 24hrs)

3.Most of the apps are just crashing( i dont know why)

4.While playing videos it lags

Please help me out friends with these above issues.Please mention if there is any ways to boost sound and battery life.

Gen 3 is a new radio firmware which is incompatible with Gen 2, but the rom's boot, just no reception. Gen 2 is not compatible with Gen 1, but the rom's don't boot due to different memory layout. Don't update to Gen 3, because there is only one rom (Moldovan Mile High Mountain Pie) and there are no benefits. App crashes and slow downs can be fixed by flashing a rom. If you want a great every day rom which is smooth and has great battery life then Moldovan Mile High Mountain Pie is for you. If you play games alot and don't care about battery use Cyanogen Mod 7 or If you are bored of the looks of Android try LeWa rom. Sound quality will be better with a decent set of headphones. Personally I use Sennheiser CX300II and they sound really good. Well my Philips GoGear Vibe 2 sounds better, but as a phone it is good. If you are an audiophile you've bought a wrong phone. Sgs2 is lightyears away in this. Video lagging could be solved by using a video player from Market like Mx player or Vplayer. Btw if you will choose Moldovan Mile High Mountain Pie then flash undervolt kernel. My battery lasts double the time.

I use creative EP-630 as my earphone.

Still the sound is not upto the mark.even the speaker sound is not good.

Is there any fix available to boost the sound quality of the phone ?

Try Volume+, It's paid, but you can pirate. Google Mobilism volume+.

Edit: There is Dspmanager in your rom. It does almost the same. Play with it's settings.

I have a doubt

I have purchased dell xcd35 Gen 2 .Mr.pigfish(apps) also claims it to be a Gen 2 model.

But i dont think i have a 512mb Ram :(

Is there any apps or process to check how much memory i have ?

Your phone should have 512mb RAM. Go to Settings>Applications>Running services. If it says you have total about (don't know exact number) 100mb ram you have 256mb ram. Why? Those left rams are reserved for system. If you have 512mb Ram it will say in total you have about 350mb. It can differ because of mods I did to my rom. (V6 Supercharger script)
