Guest neilfellows Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Hi, Just got an Orange Monte Carlo. I've unlocked it, rooted it, using a Giffgaff sim and all is well. However, I've noticed that for some reason when I send a text message the phone says (from what I recall) 'Sending as two messages". I could understand if i'd written a small essay, but it's doing it with relatively small messages, last try was about 30 words long. This didn't happen when using my previous Android powered LG GT540, always went as one message. It this something to do with the Orange software still on the phone - does Orange restrict the number of characters in a single text, and what could I do to prevent it apart from changing the Rom I guess? Thanks loads, Neil.
Guest Atomix86 Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 That sounds odd indeed, what ROM are you using? If it's the Orange one, are you sure it's not trying to use Orange's center for the SMS?
Guest arnoldziq Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Do you use some "national specified" characters ? For me, is enough to use one of Polish characters like : 'ą', 'ę', 'ó' etc. to cut size of single message from 160 to 69 characters :/

I'm using the stock Orange one out of the box, all I did was unlock it and root the device (I only rooted so I could remove some of the Orange apps). Do you know how I'd check to see if it's using Orange's centre for the SMS? Thanks.
