Guest Goshawk Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 Hi, I'm new here. I just bought a T mobile Rapport for £40 at ASDA for my husband. I managed to root it using Super One Click (worked first time), after having no luck with Gingerbreak (just kept going and never rooted) and Z4root (kept crashing out). Used ClockworkMod to change to Subpskye's cyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC0 "u8160". However it is still locked to T mobile. Does this mean that I need to pay to get it unlocked? Which is the cheapest reliable unlocking service? Apologies if this is a dumb question. (When I rooted my Orange SF and changed the rom to Swedish Spring, I didn't need to unlock - something in the process must have included an unlock with the SF.)
Guest moka88 Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 Yes I'm afraid you will. Unlocking your device to work with any network and rooting your device and installing an alternative rom are two completely different things. I recommend ebay, you can get the device unlocked for about £7.50.
