Guest robneymcplum Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) I broke my screen on Sunday so rang orange care, got my new one delivered today, flashed my old/new stuff onto it and was amazed how smooth the screen responded. assumed it was 'new phone syndrome' LOL and carried on.... however looking at the new phone I can't see any of the 'dots' my old phone screen had that could be seen in some lights. assumed the OMC had a resistive screen anyway due to price, wasn't an issue... had a bit of a Google now and apparently it always has had a capacitive screen which I'm lead to believe has no 'dots'? so.... do your phones have a dotted screen? my old dotted screen also had 'the camera' at the front that this one doesn't have, so is it possible I had before a worse screen but camera that was never used due to software, and now a better screen but no 'camera' or was mine normal or the same? I got my last one pretty much the day it was out and this one today so pretty much the newest one here. any ideas? My screen now is no sharper or anything, phone is not really faster or anything just screen is more responsive, no 'camera' on the front and no 'dots' Hope this makes sense. But this one does not have that. But my new one has no dots and screen response is amazing
Guest jcmyall Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 You probably just can't see them yet. A resistive touch screen has a bit of plastic you can bend. A capacitive touch screen doesn't. I believe all phones since the iPhone was first released has a capacitive touch screen. Also... There's never been a front camera on the Monte Carlo.

Guest robneymcplum Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) Hmm... And does automatic brightness work? I have/had proximity sensor, brightnes, LED etc, was just this purple tinged 'bulb' camera style on my last one. not present on this one or my mates old one for comparrison that caused me and some others confusion. And not all phones since the iPhone had capacitive screens, not by a long shot. I've had at least 3 which didnt. And capacitive shouldnt have dots surely? *edit* I just assumed cos my resistive ones had visible dots and my capacitive ones I could never see, i ASSUMED capacitive didnt have them, I may and more than likely are, wrong. But I saw the dots the day I got my first OMC and previous phones.... Edited January 23, 2012 by robneymcplum
Guest Frankish Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 I've seen the dots on my HTC desire and on my hd2 and on my skate. And on my defy too I think.
