Unable to install google driver

I decided to take the plunge to unlock a brand new OMC and install custom rom. But I have tried 2 days in vain to install the google driver.

Handset driver is installed.

Phone is in USB debugging mode.

I coonected phone to PC (win7). In device manager, there are 2 devices: USB composte device and USB mass storage device.

I ran the .bat file. Command prompt windows shows <waiting for device>.

In device manager, both USB composte device and USB mass storage device are still active.

I reight clicked either device and install new driver, I pointed it to the google driver folder (and also win USB) but every time it just says the best driver for the device has been installed, without trying ti install android_winusb.inf from the google folder.

I have also uninstalled handset driver and tried to install just goole driver but no luck.

I never got a android or unknown device in device manager which I suppose is what I should get before installing the google driver.

I have read the tutorials many times and could not find the reason.

What else have I missed?

Finally!

I just read somewhere that using a different USB port may do the trick,

And it does!

Even so, installing the driver was abit bit hit and miss.

Eject the phone's USB mass storage drive first by rightclicking on it and choosing "Eject" in windows explorer.

EDIT: Ahh. I see it's solved now. Nevermind :)

Nope. Tried a different usb and didn't work for me. I'm on 64bit win7. I don't think it's 64bit compatible. The only file recognized when trying to install driver is android_winusb

Also Android only shown in "other devices" tab

Is there an alternative?

I would:

1) Uninstall all existing drivers including Handset USB Driver installed when you plug the phone for the first time

2) Reboot then plug the phone and let Handset USB Driver to be installed from phone again

3) When flashing CWM and in <waiting for device> state, go to device manager. Look for Android Device with warning icon,

right click, choose Update, Browse manually, Let me pick..., Choose ADB Interface group and ZTE Composite Interface

Confirm warning message.

Thank you thank you thank you.

I think it was the Choose ADB Interface group and ZTE Composite Interface that did it. but also found that the handset usb driver had to be reinstalled half a dosen times to install for all parts to sucessfully install.

Thanks again.
