Guest Voxpop2011 Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 I can't be the only person who wonders what comes next after unlocking. For example, I have finally managed to unlock my OMC, which took me back to the 'out of the box state' - don't know why back-up was lost, but that's another story. So now I have a phone capable of running on other networks, but still Orange branded. I am not sure that I am ready to dabble in the art of rom flashing, so how do I 'de-brand the phone? If I was to 'wipe' the phone, what would it look like, for instance, would I get the ZTE Skate interface, some other interface or nothing at all? Sorry if this seems like a 'dumb' question.
Guest Frankish Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 You should be able to restore your backup still. Or just flash a new rom.
Guest glorfy Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 Easiest way to debrand is to install another launcher from the market e.g. Launcher pro. That will instantly give you a better looking interface. If you need more then you need to be installing clockworkmod and flashing a new rom. Wiping would not chieve what you want. Make sure you read the relevant stickies for flashing, if thats the way you choose to go.
Guest Voxpop2011 Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 Thanks for the replies. I think I will take the plunge and just install a new Rom as I haven't lost anything crucial and I know what apps I had from my Android Market history. I hope that all of the Roms built for the OMC/Skate support pop mail accounts.

Guest Anthony1989 Posted January 31, 2012 Report Posted January 31, 2012 Im not to sure if this is the answer, but, if you root the phone and download antekmanager from the market you can remove all of the orange bloatware and get it to a zte interface if you remove the orange launcher

I downloaded it last night and was able to uninstall the Orange homescreen plus other crap/bloatware. It even 'found' all the apps I had previously installed. I now have a clean home page ready for re-population. :)
