Hi

my zte blade has been fine for a year.

Then suddenly its started having a major problem.

When I have it plugged into the mains it seems to be charging, the battery indicator shows this, and the percentage charge increases. As soon as I take it out of the mains, it turns off, and when I plu it back in again, there is no charge and the cycle begins again. When I try to charge via usb/pc it doesn't start up, it gets to the little green android man, the modaco logo, then switches off and then the little green man again.

I bought a new battery, but the same symptoms.

The only thing I think I did, was originally let the battery totally discharge. I then started charging it, but quite close to a heater, so maybe it was too hot??

The phone does turn on while its plugged to the mains, but if left like that, it soon switches itself off.

When it is plugged in, the back button does glow red.

about phone:

baseband version: P729BB01

kernel version: 2.6.29

its the oled version of the phone i think

Any help much appreciated.

thanks

seef!

to me, it sounds like a battery problem - but you say you have a new battery, where did you get it from? Is it an official one?

Are you able to measure the voltage of the battery?

Have you tried a different USB lead? Maybe this has gone faulty.

Not sure where you are from, but if in the UK pop along to Poundland and pick up one of their Blackberry leads http://www.poundland.co.uk/product-range/a-z/signalex-usb-phone-charger/

I tried many leads from ebay/amazon, but none of them charged the battery even though it looked like they were. The poundland one does.

Hi

thanks for the reply

tried the new charger and it doesn''t work with that either.

so to review, tried new battery, tried new charger, cant get the phone to stay on. The phone only comes on while the charger is plugged in.

Any more thoughts as to what else I can try or do. I could have been unlucky and bought a dud new battery maybe, but it was from ebay and one of the top sellers.

And shudder the thought, that I do have to get a new phone...what should i get?!

thanks in advance

as garethp has suggested have you tried a new usb cable?

I haven't managed to get to a poundland yet to test theirs but my blade now only charges using the official cable that came with it or my mates official HTC usb cable that came with his phone.

I've tried loads of others but none seem to work, I'm fairly sure my phone used to charge from any cable so no idea what caused it. I'm hoping to check out the poundland ones when I pass one as I've seen quite a few people say they work fine.
