Guest rachel13 Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Just got a Monte Carlo. Downloaded AVG app which warns me that my new phone is Rooted, which is a security risk and I need new fimeware and/or a factory reset to resolve the problem. Also said to contact the orange shop to find out how to do this. Orange Tech support said there is no such thing as a Rooted phone! Googling OMC and Rooted, everyone seems to be wanting to/advising how to root the phone - I want to do the opposite!
Guest Atomix86 Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Simple answer is dont use avg. It is an abomination of an app and does not belong on the android platform.

And delete avg Edited February 3, 2012 by razzmataz1478
Guest rachel13 Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 It isn't and yes what atomix said. And delete avg Ok, so I'll delete AVG, but how can I tell whether it's Rooted or not? Is there something in Settings I can check?

I would advise using the avast app, very reliable in my opinion. It has firewall built in too,so very useful. Edited February 3, 2012 by Guest

Hello how are you? In Market application Root procutre by Checker ... to run it it will tell you in a few seconds if your player this root or not! very simple truth ... and actually remove the Avg. I even don't have any type of firewall on my player ... hate, because I know very well the sources where I can get viruses! Good luck!
Guest razzmataz1478 Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Could just download superuser from market to ckeck if you have root which, well...you don't
Guest rjm2k Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 It's probably just picking up that the su binary is on there by default, it doesn't have the correct file attribute to make it work though so not an issue.
