Guest eLJay Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 Has anyone got an answer to this. Just wondered if there is anything out there to make an android phone access the phone first as the main function and the interface as an add on. Got to keep the engineer girlfriend happy as she is not convinced by the complexity of Android 2.3.5 on OSF.
Guest hahawas Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 huh? You have to turn the damn phone on before you can start making calls?
Guest eLJay Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 huh? You have to turn the damn phone on before you can start making calls? I think it is more an issue of having the dialer running as the main feature. Engineers huh!
Guest The Soup Thief Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 Maybe just use the slider lockscreen and she can unlock with the phone tab? Strikes me as a waste of a good mobile OS but my wife is kinda the same tbh - dumbphones all the way for some people!

In my family it's a different story: Dad has a Huawei u8800pro, and uses it for.... browsing. His phone is not even rooted. Mom wants one, but doesn't really know how to use her current SE dumbphone. :D Edited February 5, 2012 by Maxsas360
Guest hugobosslives Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 just use a lock screen with has two unlocks buttons (or swipes) one that if she hits takes her to the dialer and a second one that unlocks the phone normally (i.e. to android) PS: if she also texts . you could add another to go straight to messages
Guest hahawas Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Don't see why'd you want an android for that... If you just wanted to phone, why not get a £10 phone
Guest flshg Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 How about using one of the windows phone launcher clones, which have a couple big buttons for phone, sms etc, but still allows access to smartphone apps. That will move the focus onto the 'normal' phone functions.
Guest eLJay Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 (edited) I think the logical engineer wants a phone that also allows email, facebook, twitter, web browsing and camera. I blame the Sony Ericsson K800i she had, spoilt her rotten before breaking. Also as I also run a blade it makes it easier to fix if it goes wrong. Thanks for the suggestions, I will have a look for those, also any links and tips appreciated. The two that appear are Widgetlocker Lockscreen and some of the ICS style lockscreen programs, I fancy using an ICS one, has anyone tried one of those? LJ. Edited February 6, 2012 by eLJay
Guest eLJay Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 (edited) Okay I am trying Go Locker Ex as this seems to be capable and is free (without trojans and adware). Having said that I now realise I am already running ADW Launcher - there might be something there, I need some sort or Dialer Widget to start from there. Thanks, LJ. Edited February 6, 2012 by eLJay
Guest eLJay Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 And then does a quick restore to 4 days ago as the lock screen options in ADW Launcher make my phone locked without any way to open it. Ooops.
Guest Davidoff59 Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 launcher 360 from xda developers is nice. its been translated to English, so if you download off the market, it will be in Chinese
