Guest the_crevis Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) Hi all, I know what a lot of you will be thinking when you see this, but I think the reason a sense port has never been successful is because the dev always tries to work on his/her own. I have got a Gingerbread Sense 2.1 port booting on my ZTE Blade, but I do not currently have the skill or time (I have 5 Higher grades to get through this year :/ ) to take this much further. The ROM is taken from a HTC Salsa and so everything will need to be resized. The question is, shall I upload it here so everyone has the chance to collectively get it working? I personally think this is the best way to get a successful port working as everyone has different skills in different areas of android. Some mature and thoughtful responses would be appreciated. Regards, Ben. Edited February 4, 2012 by the_crevis
Guest Sulthekk Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) Well, we would never know if we don't even try... What are the highest priority issues? I will try to help if i can. Edited February 4, 2012 by Sulthekk
Guest the_crevis Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 Well, we would never know if we don't even try... What are the highest priority issues? I will try to help if i can. Thanks, the highest priority is get the libsurfaceflinger.so to display the screen the right way up, and then sorting out the repeated android.process.acore force close error, and of course resizing everything :/
Guest Sulthekk Posted February 4, 2012 Report Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) Sorry if i'm mistaken because english isn't my primary language, but when you are talking about the right way up, do you mean rotation? Have you tried changing ro.sf.hwrotation? Edited February 4, 2012 by Sulthekk
Guest Roph Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Not to derail, but.. why? Sense is inefficient bloated garbage. Why would you want to bog your blade down with that trash? I'd say that this is the reason why there is no sense port for the blade. You can just skin a launcher so it looks like sense if you like it that much

You can just skin a launcher so it looks like sense if you like it that much  LOL HTC is the unofficial master of optimization. Have you ever seen a HTC Explorer? Newest Sense without speed problems.. Also, have a look at the DefyFroyoSense rom. Even with a stock kernel and a froyo base, with no development for a long time, it's still one of the fastest roms out for the defy. Why do you think sense is "garbage"? Touchwiz is garbage. Motoblur is (mostly) garbage. But Sense is a correct, fast UI. The only backside of our port is that we are trying to port a fairly old version, but after it will be OK, we may use it as a base for the newer Sense from HTC Explorer.
Guest iKrautDroid Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 They also ported sense from the explorer to the hero...
Guest iKrautDroid Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Info on fixing the screen rotation: The process.arcore error as a lot of causes, but i can also have something to with facebook abd the facebook contact sync... Since the salsa is a "facebook phone", im sure it includes alot of facebook stuff. Try removing all the facebook stuff to fix the arcore fc...
Guest Sulthekk Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 Instead of doing the work we should create a separate thread in the rom developing forum, and leave this for user discussions, as there will be lots of useless "sh1t, this and this is wrong, not working, do this, do that" type comments, like there were on ICS AOSP... btw, before doing anything, we should wait for the_crevis, as he already got a partially working base.

Thanks for the info, I just tried that screen rotation fix, it didn't seem to make any difference sadly :/ I'll see about the Facebook stuff in a bit, but I'm working on resizing everything atm, it isn't hard it just takes a lot of time, which, at the moment, I don't have a lot of as I've got mock exams in 10 days :/.
Guest tilal6991 Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 I can send you the rotation fix. But seriously its not worth it. The salsa is mdpi and I tried porting to the skate. All the images and layouts were horrible. If you still want the fix pm me the libsurfaceflinger.so file.
Guest tilal6991 Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 And snap with the exams! Also highers! But I suppose I shouldn't be so excited with it only a few days away :(
Guest iKrautDroid Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 what did you edit in the surfaceflinger... Its knowledge that could help many others...
Guest tilal6991 Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 what did you edit in the surfaceflinger... Its knowledge that could help many others... I hex edited the file. Ill send you the exact details plus source as soon as I'm near a computer.
Guest weeo Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 Not trying to be rude or anything... but is anything happening with this port then?
Guest the_crevis Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 Not trying to be rude or anything... but is anything happening with this port then? I don't have anytime to work on it at the moment as I've got mock exams in a few days, I started the thread merely to ask if there was any interest still in a port and if anybody wanted me to share it so they could help.
Guest Sulthekk Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 I currently have no permanent access to a computer atm, but I'm sure it could be done from the Blade itself, as I have made some cwm updates that way in the past. If You upload, I will have a look at it, as soon as possible.
