Hi

I have been recommended this rom and it looks promising for my kinda use of the ZTE Blade.

I found this thread on Fish n chips and it says how to install but I am not wiz at these things so am looking for a step by step guide on how to install. I am currently running swedish springs.

the first line is wipe all your data to install fish n chips and I am worried about existing contact numbers and stored pictures etc.

Yes, you have to wipe cache and data. Everything on the phone memory will be lost.

Do a backup in clockworkmod of your rom, and you will save all the things you have on the phone's memory.

Then do a a backup of all apps+data in Titanium Backup. With this you will have all apps saved and when you install fish n chips you just have to restore.

First make sure your phone is rooted and clock work mod installed, there are loads of guides showing how to do this you do not even need to use a computer.Download titanium backup from the market and make a backup of all apps with data, sinc all numbers and calendar with Google account this should already be done. Download fish and chips rom onto phone or your P.C check the md sums numbers match with apps live astro file manager or md5 sum checker both available from the market. Place rom straight onto the sd card not in any folders. Power on your phone whilst holding volume key down this should put you into clock work recovery . Scroll down to backup recovery select using home button on phone and run backup after that is done select advanced setting and wipe dalvic then wipe partition catch then wipe data factory. Then select install zip on sd card scroll down to fish and chips rom then install. Before you do any of the above find out if the rom is gen1 or gen2, if gen2 make sure your phone is gen2 the market application " ask Mr pigfish " will let you know what Gen you are. A good and easy way to go from gen1 to gen2 is to use application "TPT helper" from the market . A good way to backup all your photos is to instal " drop box " from the market, you get 2gb free that way if you loose you phone you can still get access to your pics. Hope this helps.

Whwn i try to turn on the phone by holding down the volume button while trying to switch on the phone all I get is the green android man flashing slowly. In other words I cannot get into recovery mode,

Also cannot find the download fish n chips fileon my phone. How to you search downloaded files and unzip them on the phone.?<br>

Ok I have managed to follow the process but the installation of fishnchips seems to abort. I belive that this is because it has been downloaded as a zip file and i don't know how to find the downloaded file and unzip it on my phone. Any advice would be appreciated.

When I try to install fish n chips it says download aborted. I belive that this is because I have downloaded a zip file and have not un zipped it. I don't know how to search my phone for downloaded files and I don't know how to unzip a zipped file on the phone. Eventually i installed the existing swedish spring just so I could have a working phone but would be interested how to find and open/unzip files I have downloading by my phone onto my phone.

You do not need to unzip the file to your sd card just copy and paste it to the sd card not in any folders your phone will read it as a zip file.If it is not installing the file may be corrupt or you must be doing something wrong did you check the md sum of the file " a long number placed by the developer with the rom download " check it with apps mentioned in first post.

If you have downloaded the file directly to your phone it is probably in a download folder .Try using your filer application to find the file then long press on the file should give you the option to move or copy and paste the file to the sd card not in any folders. The file should still be ziped and sitting along side your folders on the sd card. Also make sure the link you downloaded the file from is for the zte blade or orange San Francisco as the devs behind the fish and chips rom also develop roms for the zte crescent

orange San francisco 2. Last did you check to see if your phone is gen2 as the latest fish n chips rom for the blade is gen2. I noticed in your first post you wrote you are using sweedish spring rom that is probably a custom rom. Did you buy the phone second hand or did you put that rom on yourself.Does the file download have TPT wrote on it. Just looked at your original link in first post should of done this earlier have you checked with ask mr pigfish what Gen you are as they are all Gen 2 Roms. there might be a all in one there will check when I finished work meanwhile find out and post what Gen you are.If you are running k.k sweedish spring rom it was a very popular rom made for both gen1 and gen2 so can not help you any more until I know what gen you are.

Hi - I have used this ROM since v1 and it is great for my blade. I wonder does anyone run Navfree on it? I have installed the apk and installed a UK map but the map update download does not register as being complete. I cannot access the program except to download the update again. Any ideas please? Thanks! :-)
