touchscreen playing up

My wife's Orange San Fransisco (ZTE Blade) touchscreen has recently started playing up. It seems to get confused about where you are pressing, and seems to lock requiring a reboot.

This seems intermittent, but regularly enough to be an issue.

Anyone any ideas?

I stumbled across a thread on the giffgaff forums which stated:

"Well, I've now got a working screen.

The solution seems to have been something mentioned somewhere on modaco - to squeeze behind the on-off button to make sure the connector connects."

but haven't been able to find the full thread referred to. Have tried pressing near the power switch but too early to say if it has helped, and it would help if I knew exactly where to press. Failing that, are these things easy enough to take apart/put back together?
