Guest Mark Dearlove Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 ...Google, with Chrome for Android! Despite only being released less than a week ago, having no flash player, and being supported only on Android 4.0, Google's Chrome browser took first place in our poll with just over 31% of the vote. Chrome is still in Beta but initial reports from users are extremely encouraging. Chrome for Android supports syncing bookmarks and tabs with Chrome on other devices, Chrome-to-phone, and incognito browsing. Chrome is being reviewed currently so keep your eyes on the site for all the details. For those of us not fortunate to have an ICS toting device around the best choice, as voted by the MoDaCo community, is Dolphin which gained a respectable 25.5% of the poll. With its full featured HD version and the lightweight Mini version Dolphin covers pretty much all the functional options you will need. Dolphin also supports a large number of plug-ins which add functionality to the browser. Third place went to the stock browser, with almost 22% of those polled opting to stick with the built in browser. You can download the browsers from the Android Market: Chrome Beta Dolphin HD This item was promoted to the News page - click here to view.
Guest aryndar Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 Dolphin is fantastic just for the simple reason... they respond and answer emails timely. often within hours. I don't get how a browser in beta, running only on 1 OS instead of multple ones and not supporting flash (Dolphin will support HTML5) beat out a great browser like Dolphin. people must be distracted by the 'shiny penny'
Guest jd5150 Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 how does a browser thats only availble to a fraction of android users and still in beta beat any other browser let alone win. seems like a waste of the inaugral modaco recommends section. might aswell have declared internet explorer the winner for all the help about 99% of android users will find it.
Guest Mark Dearlove Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 That's how the votes were placed - Dolphin is available to the rest of the Android OS levels, and that is why I put a paragraph recommending Dolphin to non ICS users. Chrome was nominated in the original request, therefore it was in the poll. I think it shows how unhappy people have been with Browsers on their devices. I use Dolphin HD because all the others I have tried haven't been able to do what I need them to - pages don't load correctly or content is missing. Even with Dolphin we suffer Force Close syndrome regularly. Chrome is what people have been waiting for.

It proves Galaxy Nexus owners read the news articles more than other device owners
