Swedish Snow 4b + pt-rPT translations (Light version)

Hi all,

this is my modifications of Swedish Snow 4b (by KonstaT) to better suit my tastes.

As this ROM is to be installed on mine, my girlfriend's and my sister's ZTE Blades, I removed apps we don't use often. The ones i/they want, can be installed from the Market... :rolleyes:

So, this is the same as Swedish Snow 4b with the following modifications:

Removed (Note: all, except Car Home, are available on the Market):

Yes, as this is Swedish Snow 4b (minus some apps)! As a bonus, it will even correct some of the Portuguese spelling.. :rolleyes:

Thanks. The boot animation installed OK but the circle mod gives a green android loop because I installed a mod from the SS thread which I can't get rid of.:(

To get rid of modifications, unzip "system/framework/framework-res.apk" and "/system/app/SystemUI.apk" from the original swedish snow 4b and copy it to the same (respective) folders on your device.. If you have adb installed just do:

- adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework

- adb push SystemUI.apk /system/app

Then, I think you have to restart the phone..

Hum, you are right, there is only Google Voice.. Well, you have two options:

- If you still have not installed this "version", just download the original Swedish Snow 4b zip file, open it, copy file "/system/app/GTalk.apk" to this ROM's "/system/app" folder inside the zip.

- If you have it already installed, just copy that same GTalk.apk file to your SD card, and with the phone's file explorer, select the file to install it..

I'm not completely sure that the second option will do, but try and if it fails, say something because there are many variations to that one! If it works, say something too.. :rolleyes:

Why are you stripping so much from it. I am English so maybe if you're Portuguese and the language is not in Konstas original rom I could understand this. I understand you made this to suite your needs but to me all you have done is taken a good rom and reduced its potential. Just use Konstas unless you need to reduce partition size. Do not mean to offended just do not get it.

this is not another new ROM with a strange name. It is Swedish Spring 4b..

But it is Swedish Spring 4b without some apps that I don't want now, but can install later. Consider it a more lighweight base for what I need (not what "you" need).

And it is not only stripped down, it also has the old market (which is faster than the new one), and, the really important part, has major corrections for Portuguese (of Portugal) language. Imagine having your phone with a mix of Portuguese/English/Portuguese(of Brasil) in your menus. Yeah, really bad! :rolleyes:

The thing is, I'm not here with the purpose of incentivating you guys to use "my" ROM, I don't need that and don't care either! I just needed a fully functional ROM, with correct Portuguese menus and dialogs, without "extra" applications which I know how to install if I need to, and that me, my girlfriend and my sister can use.

So, bottom line, I did not did this work for "you", devs or non-devs. I did it for me and my family, and only shared this because some of "you" could make use of this. Opening threads around here is cheap and I did not want to clutter KonstaT's thread..

Repeating, I did this having only me and my relatives in mind, I don't care if "you" (generally speaking) need it or not, or if "you" like it or not. I'm not your employee..

If you are the kind of user which doesn't need Portuguese menus, don't care about the new_market/old_market and you make use of the apps I've stripped down, there is nothing for you here, that's for sure.. :rolleyes:

But if you need to learn how to make translations to APK's, how did I remove the apps, etc.., you can ask, and I can say how I did! :D

Hi again buddy, I seem harsh on my previous post, but I don't feel offended, not at all.. Internet, and can't see faces, etc., you get it.. ;)

Ok, the main reason to strip so much apps is that I do not want unused apps occupying "visual space" in the launcher drawer. Yes, I could use Titanium Backup, but I also do not want that app there in the Launcher drawer, since this is to be used also in my sister's and girlfriend's phones and they are not techies and just want a functional phone. What I could do with Titanium Backup, I do it in a linux console with "adb", so one less app occupying "visual space".. So, it is not about partition sizes, but about less "unused" apps in the launcher.

But the most important part here, and what really made me share this is the pt-pt language translations corrections.. If this was only a stripped down version of SS 4b, I wouldn't share this, because deleting apks from a zip file, everyone is capable of doing it.. :rolleyes:
