Guest Smiff2 Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) ok had a quick google didn't see this discussed, but can't believe it hasn't been? I have two early ish (late 2010) Orange San Frans, one grey/OLED, one white, the latter has had the digitizer replaced (by me). On both, typing is really hard! Sometimes letters won't register, sometimes on the white one it goes crazy and pushes two letters at once or gets "stuck down" often SPACE. on this phone, the multitouch visualiser app DOES show occasional weirdness, which goes away after switching between apps, so it could be a software problem..? the grey phone tends to miss out letters or get the wrong ones so needs constant staring at entered text and correcting. both are running CM7, tried various builds, currently Sej late january 2012. we're not stupid, i can touch type well on other phones and real keyboards.. Have tried: Gingerbread keyboard Touchpal Go Keyboard. the stock Gingerbread keyboard is actually the least bad for us but all are dodgy in slightly different ways. So anyone else find typing on Blade hard as hell? it's a real shame as otherwise the phone does everything we need great. using normal apps is general not a problem although sometimes even there it can take 2 or 3 attempts for a command to register right. Guest Davidoff59 Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 you can calibrate the touch screen. Pretty sure its in the emode apk but you will all need zte dialler to use it. I would be pretty sure that this would solve your issue as I am typing this with both thumbs quickly with no issues
Guest Pondlife Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Nope not found it that hard to type, try swiftkey x where it will guess what you meant to type* which could be useful or maybe search out swype beta that can be interesting way to write. * and swiftkey can also learn how you write and will try to predict the next word when you press space, it can be uncanny or way off but can cut down writing time.
Guest WAWA72 Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Install times ginger stir fry and then the zte eMode helper. Apk https://www.dropbox.com/s/u3x1i5n6ajr4txc/ZTEEmodeHelper.apk With this you can Calibrate the touch screen. It either gets better, if not, then the touch screen is defective. Say he has a hairline fracture in the connector

Say he has a hairline fracture in the connector ok thanks i'd not heard about calibration. actually, i'd searched and found that there was no such thing with capacitive screens (!?) sorry, i have to install a particular ROM before i can use that? (doesn't work with CM7?) and then the calibration will hold after re-installing CM. i mean, if i backup my CM7 install, install GFS, then run that, the restore the CM7 as it was, it will remain calibrated? Guest WAWA72 Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Didnt work with Cyanogenmod. Testet before 3 days. I have not found in cynogenmod this tool. Does not run the helper with ZTE eMode Cyanogenmod, but with Ginger Stir Fry. Whether the calibration is transferred to the success Cyanogenmod bezweifel me. But you know after the Zte eMode test helper if the touchscreen is defective or not. I myself have already repaired about 50 blades and tell you about 99% of the touch screen is defective. A very good dealer get one at ebay: mpas2010 If you order from him and not go the touch screen as desired, and inform him he sends you a new one. Edited February 20, 2012 by WAWA72
Guest Smiff2 Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 ok. before i go to trouble of changing ROMs i'd like to hear confirmation that calibration will hold after changing ROMs, thanks! also, the Blade was always bad, it's perhaps got worse on one of the phones, but it was always difficult to type on them.

Guest Smiff2 Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=280791504126 higher price, difference? think this is where i got my replacement. are you saying some digitizers are just dodgy and some aren't? Edited February 20, 2012 by Smiff2
Guest Davidoff59 Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 I have never had to recalibrate but its in there for a reason. cant see why it wouldn't hold after a new flash.
Guest Smiff2 Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 GSF seems to have sunk from ROM forum, can any stock rom or these be used with that emode app?
Guest Davidoff59 Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) are you Gen 1 or Gen 2? forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389364 This has mention of emode apk in R4 Edited February 20, 2012 by Davidoff59
Guest Smiff2 Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 are you Gen 1 or Gen 2? forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389364 This has mention of emode apk in R4 Gen2, but that rom says it supports both! will try on mine now thanks!
Guest Smiff2 Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) zte emode helper not working, shows numbers but no effect.. will try wiping all partitions ok now it works. "delete (touchscreen) calibration file" i hope that's it! only thing i can find relating to the digitizer.. Edited February 21, 2012 by Smiff2
Guest Roph Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 I do alright with HTC_IME mod. It includes a calibration tool. I set some more padding on the keys (larger gaps in between keys), which I guess makes me aim more accurately without even thinking about it.
Guest Smiff2 Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 haven't tried that keyboard thanks. it's really a general touch problem though, she seems to think it's maybe better, waiting for definite answer first before change the front again! btw, how did you get to 787, that particular phone hardly runs stable at 650.. can overclocking affect input response like this?
Guest Roph Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Different chips have different max speeds. Only the minimum frequency that it can run stable at is what's important when you're selling the chip. Some Intel i7s can go to 4.5Ghz, others start to choke at 4Ghz. Just luck of the draw :)
Guest Smiff2 Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 i just thought OC might cock the screen timing up, but it doesn't, i've tried it back at 600.. if anything higher is better because that reduces lag generally.
Guest Smiff2 Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) ok got a little update (white phone with replaced digitizer that was really bad to type on) since running "delete (touchscreen) calibration file" with emode helper: it's a lot better! in terms of general aiming at the buttons. i'm thinking that is something you should always do after changing the digitizer? but keys sometimes still get stuck, and i've seen this myself now, when you lift your finger it sometimes thinks you're still holding on the screen. could there be some other calibration or setting, or is this a bad digitizer? Guest WAWA72 Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 It is faulty. Believe in me, or pray to god.
Guest Smiff2 Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 It is faulty. Believe in me, or pray to god. wow that was dramatic, ok i'll change the front panel again. i bought 2 before so no big deal touch wood...
Guest Maxsas360 Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Mine's become weird too. Could that be caused by a screen protector?
Guest Smiff2 Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 confirming it was a bad digitizer. buy another and change.
