Guest KonstaT Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 ZTE Blade Series - Gingerbread kernel(2.6.35) source code only for the device with 4Gb ROM http://support.zte.com.cn/support//news/NewsDetail.aspx?newsId=1001722
Guest agpoli Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Any interesting/useful bits in it? I hope you're going to make a new ROM based on it
Guest fox2000 Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Should have missed something... thought Blade had 512MB ROM!
Guest KonstaT Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) Any interesting/useful bits in it? I hope you're going to make a new ROM based on it It's just the kernel source. Hopefully it fixes some of the hardware issues (camera, proximity). Should have missed something... thought Blade had 512MB ROM! Yeah, I think they meant it's for 4G4G (european) models that have 512mb of ROM and RAM. Edited February 22, 2012 by KonstaT
Guest KonstaT Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Couple of missing headers from netfilter, but compiles after adding those. Boots, sensors work, camera works, bluetooth works. Everything works except wi-fi, which doesn't work with either new or old drivers.
Guest agpoli Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Should have missed something... thought Blade had 512MB ROM! Missed some math lessons? 4 Gb (Gigabit) = 512 MB (Megabyte)
Guest fox2000 Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Missed some math lessons? 4 Gb (Gigabit) = 512 MB (Megabyte) lol, that's probably the first time that I see a proper usage of b(bit)/B(byte) notation! The force of (bad) habits... :D
Guest targetbsp Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Am I right in thinking that atm we are using this kernel version from the ZTE Turies atm? In some or all current roms? Will there be any advantage to this over that?

Will there be any advantage to this over that? TomG and sej use the Skate source, whilst burstlam ( and maybe BurgerZ too?) use Turies sources.
Guest targetbsp Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Is the Skate source also 2.6.35 then? I'm just trying to work out if I should get excited that we're actually going to see any benefit from this in any roms or if all are already using this version from some other source anyway. :D

Have you tried to compile this one? http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ath6kl targetbsp: Yes, that's the base of the kernel used in official cm7 atm.
Guest tilal6991 Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 The base of cm7 is the skate kernel.

Swedish Snow uses a kernel that is based on newer Turies release. In theory compiling this source should result in a kernel that matches a kernel in phones sold in Sweden with gingerbread. In practice this isn't the case. LOL it doesn't even compile if you don't add the missing files. This is the first .35 kernel release for Blade. It's the latest and it should have support for all hardware used in european blades. Have you tried to compile this one? http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ath6kl Nah, it was a noob mistake and it wasn't even the first time I made it. :P I used config from Swedish stock kernel but that results in having wrong device name and wifi driver won't load. Wifi works ok now and with a newer driver too. Edited February 22, 2012 by KonstaT
Guest Zunex Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) So can you fix the slow WI-fi connection problem and a graphical glitches (in some applications for example Dolphin Browser) in CM7? Edited February 22, 2012 by Zunex
Guest Sulthekk Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 So can you fix the slow WI-fi connection problem and a graphical glitches (in some applications for example Dolphin Browser) in CM7? I don't think there's anything to do with graphics as the skate has the same adreno 200 as far as I know.

Guest Sulthekk Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 in swedish snow I didn't experience the glitches and the WI-FI was fast too.. The graphical glitches could be related to the framework as well. And somewhere I read that the glitches stopped appearing after returning to stock clock - maybe targetbsp said that in the cm7 thread?

It only happens when I first open the dolphin browser, I mean after installing from the market. after I went thru the tutorial It's just going back to normal. Not a big deal tho just asking. But what about the wifi? It connects very slowly and sometimes I get disconnected.. Edited February 22, 2012 by Zunex
Guest targetbsp Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 The graphical glitches are down to using 16 bit transparencies to speed scrolling aren't they? Or we talking about something else? if that is what we are talking about then you can just disable 16 bit transparencies in CM Settings if the glitches bother you.

Guest targetbsp Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 You probably didn't turn it on. I recall a certain past version of CM7 switched the default setting to on for it. :) I'm not sure about the wifi. I don't actually have CM7 controlling my wifi on/off - I have tasker doing it.
