Guest domenico lamberti Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 as the title and sub title suggest i was thinking about (sadly) leaving the skate and going for a san fran 2 or vivacity (same phone different body) because the skate is a tiny bit too big for me, i wear a lot of skinny jeans with tight pockets and in hindsight the skate was probably not the best option, but the community here is so unbelievably good it would be hard to leave. also even though it is a novelty, the Front facing camera is one that i really would use (skype, fring etc.),strangely that is the ONLY (yes only thing) that i miss from my iPhone 4. so what do you guys think,i thought i would ask the community because you guys usually seem to know best, would going to the crescent be an upgrade or downgrade from the skate? and would you recommend it?
Guest Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 As you have stated, the skate,blade2,and,vivacity are the same machine. If the skate is too big for you, then it makes sense to go with the smaller versison. However, the blade2 and vivacity do not have the same outstanding support or community as the skate, for example we have miui4 and cm9. Although tilal is working on a port to blade2/vivacity,I think his priority lies with the skate. At the end of the day it is up to you to make your choice....if you can live without tilal and the other great devs, then go for it. I was in the exact same situation as you,I was thinking of going to the blade2,but I could not go through with it when tilal started to work on miui4. No way man,I stay where the cutting edge is,and that is with tilal.

Hi there, i agree with regarding the community here, ive only been on here a few weeks and ive posted some questions, that make me look like a complete idiot, as in if i read the forum properly, i would already have the answer. Even so,. The guys on here have put up with me and even been helpful, myself personally if i got another phone. I have no intention of changing, but , when i do,I would like to keep my skate, to just flash roms and follow the community here.
Guest admanirv Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 I used to have a vivacity - its looks like a cheap dodgy knock off iphone seriously people will notice and rip the piss! :D and the screen is too small when go from a 4.3" to 3.5" it will annoy you. Stop wearing skinny jeans, man up and wear proper jeans and keep the skate :D
Guest domenico lamberti Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 man this is not making my choice any easier lol

Guest almighty15 Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) Get an Acer liquid metal and ditch all the old hardware these phone use, Why buy a cheap cut down Orange branded ZTE phone when for £120-140 you can have a liquid metal that has a much faster CPU, Full flash support and the adreno 205 GPU which is 3x faster then the adreno 200 GPU the ZTE phones use. Not to mention the build quality on the acer is in a different league compared to the ZTE phones. Liquid metal is the only budget Android device even worth considering, All other budget phones use first generation snapdragon CPU's with the crappy adreno 200 GPU....ewww.... Guest almighty15 Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 because the liquid metal looks janky I've had a blade and a skate and the liquid is in a different league, Pictures really don't do it justice. The Skate just feels really cheap and the blade while a bit better still has a cheap feel to it, The liquid metal doesn't. Still if you're happy with cheap phones with ancient hardware then go you...

Compared to the SKate and Blade, the metal has basically no community. Even being an ARM7 device, it doesn't have MIUI4or a almost working ICS... So if you want outdated software... there you go....
Guest PedroVader Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Oooooh, my dads bigger than your dad, yo mama is so..... Seriously its all personal choice, although the metal is arm7 its literally no comparison to the skate. Still 800mhz, same ram/rom, smaller screen, really awful "breeze" overlay, camera certainly no better than the Skate, if anything its worse. This is not hearsay, I've been able to compare the two as a relative has one, even leaving the screen size aside, skate wins it for me...but that's just personal preference, don't let the fact that its a Q4 2010 phone with less of a community put you off...hang on, isn't the blade the same age?..:D
Guest almighty15 Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Still 800mhz, same ram/rom, smaller screen, really awful "breeze" overlay, camera certainly no better than the Skate, if anything its worse. Second generation snapdragon in the metal is 20%+ faster at the same so you would need a 1Ghz overclock on the Skate to match it's performance, roms for the liquid also support up to 1.6Ghz ( 100% overclock) The adreno 200 GPU in the skate is so crap and old it's not even worth comparing it to the 205 in the liquid as it's a good 3x faster RAM and ROM is the same but 512mb isn't small in my opinion Smaller screen meens higher pixel density which meens better sharpness and clarity Breeze overlay isn't that bad and can be removed very easily, besides it's no were near as bad as the performance issues Oranges stock bloat were causes How can the camera be worse? Aside from the stupidly bright LED flash it's actually a decent camera
Guest JThumar Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 (edited) Classic case of H/W vs S/W........and history says that S/W gets updated frequently once hardware is in place........which is not the case as tilal said for liquid with lack of community !! No point in having your latest HW running on old SW. Running Windows 98 on i7 is something i will not prefer over using Windows 7 on Core2Due......simple as that.:P Like I said, personal preference, we like our Skates, you like your Metal, same as the apple and android fanboys...it'll go round in circles till the end of time. Oh and by the way...you can.... http://m.youtube.com...J9fy1qSFI&gl=GB :lol::lol: Edited February 23, 2012 by JThumar

The Metal community isn't going to get much better - its prime is past and its been out for almost a year and half. And btw if its such a good deal then why haven't more people bought it :P
Guest Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 What I dont get is why an owner of a liquid metal needs to hang out in a skate topic ? It seems that he is outraged by this cheap budget android getting more attention than his superior metal.Or maybe he is in envy at the cm9 and miui that apparently the skate is too inferior to run, even though we know different. I would say to him....go buy a skate and join this great community, yes on paper the liquid has the clear edge, but in reality it appears the skate is better off in community and development. A complete bargain if you ask me :)
Guest domenico lamberti Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 thanks, i think i have made my choice, i am going for the san fran 2, only because i hope that in the future it will have just as much development as the skate (Seeing as they are just the same hardware) look and feel is important to me,and i have tiny dude hands and wear skinny jeans, the naswer is kinda obvious, sorry if i started a troll thread accidentally, and dont worry guys, i was never going to buy an Acer Liquid Mt you were safe there. thanks for all your help everyone, that includes Devs such as Tilal, Kelzsoca and Tillaz, like i said before, it will be a shame to move, and i will come back here for the company, it has been a great 2 months
Guest skywave Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 (edited) Seems the only people trolling here are the people who hijack this thread to suck-up. Anyway, pretty much the only difference between the blade2 and the skate is the screen. I have to warn you about the front camera. I think it will be useless with an armv6 processor, because yes, the ZTE skate/blade/other derivates truely is a dying platform. Google Talk has no video support for armv6, pretty damn sure it also applies for Skype. Skype didn't even support Tegra2 at first because of missing NEON support. Edited February 23, 2012 by skywave
Guest tilal6991 Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Seeing as 60% of Android devices are arm6 I hardly think its a dying platform.
Guest skywave Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 (edited) Seeing as 60% of Android devices are arm6 I hardly think its a dying platform. Seeing as every phone announced right now and have been for a while is armv7 (even ZTE) it is most definitely a dying platform. You will see an even more rapid shift when the new cheap Samsungs become available. And have you heard about 60% of the statistics being bullshit? http://www.enterra-inc.com/techzone/android_statistics/ Tweetdeck users in 2010, 67% have a 1 ghz processor, from which you can deduce almost all of them are v7. The original purpose of the thread is over - the problem has been solved. Theres no need to argue. Its completely pointless.
Guest PsYcHoKiLLa Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Lalit, don't feed the trolls ;) Skywave, this is a ZTE forum, if you don't have a ZTE, why are you here? To troll?
