Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 Huawei are really stepping up their game this year at MWC, with the announcement of three high end phones, as well as their own Quad Core CPU. The company has been known for its solid mid and low range devices for years now, and is a frequent favourite here at MoDaCo. Along with ZTE, Huawei have gone from being a relatively unknown producer of operator branded handsets to being able to sell devices under their own name. Now Huawei have upped their game and are truly stepping into the high end market. Today they have announced the Huawei K3V2 (catchy, yeah?) CPU, outfitted with 4 Cores and a 16 Core GPU (The Tegra 3 has 12 not-comparable-cores, so you know). Interestingly it’s said to be based on a 64bit architecture and run at 1.5GHz, which is nice. Housing this alleged monster of a CPU is the Ascend D Quad, a 4.5inch 720p device that totes 32bit colour reproduction, with an 8mp camera and Dolby 5.1 surround. Huawei says it’s the world’s fastest phone, but that’s just marketing spiel. Although they do make sure to say that the 1800mAh battery can outlast many other devices of the same calibre, due to some interesting “proprietary algorithms” to manage the battery. However, what if you want even more battery life than the D Quad can offer? Huawei also announced the D Quad XL, packing a larger battery (2,500mAh) and stated to last 2-3 days of “average usage”. Also announced is the D1, a smaller dual core device. Source: Engadget This item was promoted to the News page - click here to view.
Guest Akash P Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 That looks promising! Wonder what the pricing would be.
Guest Akash P Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 They actually stated that it would be 20-40% faster than Tegra 3 !
Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I know, I'm incredibly impressed. If they can get it out for Huawei-like cheap, I won't hesitate to get one (if money allows ;) )
