Guest Deya_87 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 Hello, My phone keeps notifying me once a week about app updates. How can I block those apps from appearing "out of date"? Example: I have Youtube but I don't want to update the app. Every week I get a notif about Youtube's new version and in the market, the app is queued under the label: new updates. How can I avoid this since I won't update Youtube? Or other apps. There's only a couple of apps I update. NB: It's NOT on Automatic Update. It's just that annoying reminder. I want to set the reminder only for certain apps.
Guest Chocolate Columbo Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I was just literally looking at that and would be happy if there were a solution. Consider, it could be worse. My YouTube before would just automatically update itself regardless of me having auto unchecked on the app, and disabled in settings. Unless testing out ICS, I'm happy with 2.2.14 and don't want this forced pause with the screen off nonsense.
Guest Davidoff59 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I'm pretty sure there is an option to remove link to market in titanium backup. I have never used this option but it makes sense that is what it would do.
Guest Davidoff59 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I usually keep a backup of important apks on my PC. Youtube is going worse with every update so keeping a working apk on the pc is a good option.
Guest Chris Banks Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 You can detach apps from the market with the full version of Titanium backup. I am not sure if there are other (free) ways to do it however.
Guest Deya_87 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I have the Titanium pro app and I can only "Attach the app to the market". The detached button is gray.
Guest Davidoff59 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 I wonder is that something Google has implemented, to ensure users get updates. I wont update Youtube as its horrendous. Im using version 2.0.26 and its all of 600 kb in size versus closer to 2 MB on the newer version which is so full of bugs, its not even funny. I also wonder does the actual rom have anything to do with Youtube problems. Reason I ask is that the version of Youtube above would fairly consistently force close after about 5 or 6 videos. Now that I am using the Lewa rom, I had one force close in a few hours of use so its turned around the Youtube experience for me just by changing my Rom.
Guest Chocolate Columbo Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 (edited) Before, ensuring YouTube was converted to a system app was usually enough to stop mine updating and I'd be in the OP's position, but in my recent flash (of SS4b yesterday) it kept auto-updating. Reinstalled, converted to system, it updated... Detach from Market as suggested as I thought that'd definitely stop it... One hour later; hello YouTube 2.3.6 again.... It hadn't been this persistent with me before. Actually, only thing that worked was using the option to integrate it into the ROM. YouTube 2.2.1.4. for Gingerbread... FOREVER! B) On the above note though, probably won't help but I haven't had a single force close in YouTube for any version pre-2.2.1.6. (didn't try or hear of 2.2.1.5) Even way back on Donut, no fc. Only after 2.2.1.4 I've faced some issues hence why I keep many backups of it.... Edited February 27, 2012 by Chocolate Columbo
