Guest robneymcplum Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 Now this could be a 'whats your best launcher' topic, I prefer goEX now your asking, but what I like about that is the dock. Change the icons and functions etc, but the app drawer to me is a pain in the arse. Im just testing that swedishICE rom or whatever its called and I like the app drawer on that but the dock I dont like the lack of adjustments but I think that is just a 'stock' launcher? Is there any launcher that is literally just the home screen dock, or a way to modify the standard launcher? Ta.

Arrgghh... the hunt continues. But the app drawer is perfect.... Edited March 7, 2012 by robneymcplum

Guest robneymcplum Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 Changing to your images? You'd need to decompile the launcher and change images in drawables WAAAAY over my head LOL, in go launcher you can select custom images for your dock icons, I use invisible icons because I want a completely clear screen but I know where they are, if that makes sense. So far I can go for standard which I like the app drawer but have no control of dock icons, or FTL which again I like the app drawer, is faster than standard but dont like the look of the dock, or GO launcher which the dock is perfect but the app drawer is laggy and too many pointless options and doesnt have the waterfall 3d effect which would only make it even slower IMO.

Hi there I too use Go Launcher Ex, although I do find its always trying to sneak in other packages everytime I download a Go launcher theme or app very annoying. If you want to change the look of your dock icons you will need an icon pack. I have been using the excellent Sauve Icons, which used to be free, but is now pay only. However, Miui, has just released an icon pack, which you might want to try, or you go just do a search in Android Market for icon packs.
Guest robneymcplum Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) thanks voxpox, I knew about the icon packs but on go launcher I just held the dock icon, and selected 'replace' I think and selected my icon from my gallery. I was quite happy with all other application icons and so forth on my other home screens, I just had invisible icons in my dock so it looked all clean and only I knew where they were or what they did. and the ability to remove all labels from my applications was good to, just so it looked a lot less cluttered. I'll post a screen shot to explain what I mean.... hang on... Edited March 8, 2012 by robneymcplum
Guest robneymcplum Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) First two have a 5 icon dock but has 5 invisible icons: phone/contacts/menu/messages/browser and the third is my app drawer which I like, but is jerky as anything in GOlauncher, which this is, FTLlauncher on the other hand really is massively fast and I like the 3d waterfall effect. If anyone doesnt really mess with the launcher then FTL is the fastest by far but is not massively customisable. Edited March 8, 2012 by robneymcplum
Guest Voxpop2011 Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Oh I see, it actually looks very clean. I currently only have two screens, which pretty much imitate the look of my iphone. However, I am now coming around to the thinking that I should create something truly Android.
Guest zycro Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 I used go launcher too, until today... I'll find a cool launcher replacement, named TSF Shell... It's looks cool, works smoot, and different from other launchers... I like it... Here is some screenshoots:
Guest Anthony1989 Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Tsf shell always seems laggy to me, all the 3d launchers do
Guest ebus Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 agree most 3d launchers are laggy but running tsf on miui atm and its silky smooth plus very low on battery usage :)
Guest zycro Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 I use it on IceArmor lll+, at 902 mhz... It works smooth for me... I've tested the spb shell, but that was laggy for me...
Guest PejotA Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 I use Zeam Launcher and in my opinion is the best. Lightweight and simple to use only three screens and put all the major applications in the Dock. I recommend! =]
Guest Redstarr1 Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 Big fan of ADW.Launcher here. Lighter than Go EX and looks pretty much the same. I like the more basic App drawer as well, but it's a pain that it doesn't have infinite scroll. Go EX was a bit too laggy for me, and it doesn't always respond to touching the dock.
Guest robneymcplum Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 TSF Shell... 16 dollars???! And I cant even find it in market :(
Guest zycro Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 I find it somewhere on the net... :) The widgets are only on the market...
