Guest TrueBlue1981 Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 While using AirDroid to help during my USB connection problem, I found out I could browse pretty much the system memory of the phone, including all the locked ringtones, message tones etc. Of course, these files are locked (padlock symbol) and cannot be deleted. Is there any way, using AirDroid, or any other File Manager, that these files can be unlocked and deleted? My phone is rooted, with CyanogenMod 7 Android 2.3.7 installed. I just thought I'd ask, on the off chance these can be removed. It would be nice to regain some extra space for unused files.
Guest brookergray Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 (edited) These aren't locked in the same sense as they can be on the desktop. Instead you don't have sufficient permissions to modify them. You need a file explorer that has root support (es, root explorer, file expert) to delete these. I should also add that unless you're planning to put something in it's place deleting those files is pointless. Edited March 15, 2012 by brookergray
Guest Davidoff59 Posted March 15, 2012 Report Posted March 15, 2012 rom toolbox is my root browser of choice. I wouldn't say its pointless if there are apps in there that he doesn't use. Care should be taken though. Language files that are not needed can be removed also. Do a backup before removing anything as always
