Battery bar and status bar

I've seen and tried the battery bar, and like its simplicity, but to me seems a bit pointless when it is above the normal status bar with battery stats anyway, On golauncherEX, and I'm sure other launchers I can hide the status bar which then also removes battery bar. So basically, what use is the battery bar when you already have a battery icon, and is there a way to remove the status bar but keep the battery bar? Wether its called something else or some sort of app?
