Hi,

I am new to this site, to the world of Android and unlocking/cutomisation.

A week ago I was given by Orange UK a Sanfran 2, ( No contract ) , with unregistered sim.

I hate all the Orange bloat ware so started researching how to 1st unlock phone, then install new rom.

Came across the fools guide to unlocking it on the Sanfransico android site.

I have to say now, what a well written, beginners guide.

Unfortunately my phone will simply not unlock, I have now tried 8-9 times with no success.

I know I am carrying out the procedure to the letter as everything described/written happens on my phone---but it will not unlock.

I have had the guide read out to me, ( we can't all be reading it wrong ), while attempting the unlock, still no success.

At the end of the procedure when inserting a different sim card the red light blinks and a no service notification appears.

Following the same instructions I managed to install fish&chips, so nothing wrong with me following clear instructions or my reading skills and even managed to re-install the Orange firmware and have left it at that.

I had someone else attempt the unlock, following the guide, still remains locked.

I attempted the procedure on a new Win 7 64 bit laptop, nothing connected/loaded but the OS, a mouse, internet and USB cable.

I am beginning to wonder if some recent Orange Sanfran 2 phones can't be unlocked or there is something missing from the guide?

Another thought, when unlocking, should I have an Orange sim inserted or another carriers?

Any help would be so much appreciated.

There is a forum dedicated to the orange San Francisco 2. They will be better equipped to help you there. If that is the phone you're posting about. Just search and you will find.

Maybe searching ZTE CRESCENT might help.

Its here. Did it work with the Orange sim on the stock rom? Orange block some of the phones to prevent them being stolen, maybe you have one of those. If this is the case, I think you need to phone Orange up and they can unblock it.
