Guest Maxsas360 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 I got an offer to buy SE Xperia Play for 120£. Is this a good upgrade? Waiting is not an option, because my phone is losing value fast (Will barely get 70 pounds and I need money for my first car and driver's license). I have to sell my phone first too. Any thought's? How much would I get on eBay for a 8/10 oled Blade?
Guest Maxsas360 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 I got an offer of a Galaxy S too. Same price.
Guest oxyg3n89 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) +1 for Galaxy S ! have seen Blade OLED ones auction ending for 50-70 pounds on ebay. Edited March 28, 2012 by oxyg3n89
Guest Maxsas360 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Damn. That's a tough choice. Sgs is a great multimedia and games phone. Xperia is a gaming phone and will get official ICS
Guest Sulthekk Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 I got an offer of a Galaxy S too. Same price. I maintain a galaxy too, but it's not a good construction. IMEI is stored under /data, could be lost fairly easy. Recovery is built into kernel, so if something wrong happens at a kernel update or in the wrong moment of rom update, your only way out is ODIN, which is basically the same as the exe partitioner on our blades (And is as dangerous too). On the other hand, all drivers are open, it also has got ICS, although it's the fastest with a stock based rom+Speedmod kernel in my opinion. Even CM7 isn't as good as on our blades (Battery drain), btw that could be fixed with a custom kernel. The oled screen has a side effect, the statusbar icons can burn into the screen if it's turned on for long, like on plasma TVs. I can't tell much about the xperia, but if I look at the specs, I would choose the play. Better to look around modaco and xda to see which is the better supported device and whetever the xpera has any proprietary drivers or a locked bootloader, because those could prevent/slow down rom development.
Guest Maxsas360 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Well I think I will head for the Xperia Play. I never actually liked Samsung. Sony is a more trusted company for me. If everything will go as planned I will post a Goodbye thread on April. Still have to get rid of the Blade...
Guest Maxsas360 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Dad borrowed me money. Ordered the SE Xperia Play. Should get it on monday.
Guest Davidoff59 Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Good luck with the phone, let us know what its like
Guest Maxsas360 Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 Got it this morning and I can say you just can't compare this phone to ZTE Blade. It's from a higher league. The screen is sharp and huge. Game controls remind me of Playstation 2. And the smoothness of games and menus... The camera is very good. And It has a pretty stable ICS which I use.
Guest targetbsp Posted March 31, 2012 Report Posted March 31, 2012 (edited) Bit late to this which is a shame. Becuase I've used all three of those phones. And they're the only three I've used! Still, you made the right choice without me. :D The Xperia Play is great. The SGS 1 is pants. Edited March 31, 2012 by targetbsp

Guest Maxsas360 Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 I still have the Blade which I can donate to a dev...
Guest PsYcHoKiLLa Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Any chance of telling us where you got these nice offers? Were the phones new?
Guest Maxsas360 Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Go it from a local phone reseller. It was used, but I had to return it to seller, because it's faulty (touchscreen and earpiece, must be water damaged). Will get a Desire HD as a replacement ,but I'll have to pay extra 10 pounds.
