Optimus 2x Wifi hotspot not working

Last year I used my Carphone Warehouse Optimus 2X with GPRS as a hotspot for my laptop. This year I'm trying the same thing but the internet is not working although the laptop connects to the WiFi OK. The only thing that I know has changed is that the phone is now running Android 2.3. I know my SIM card and GPRS connection is OK because internet works on the phone itself and if I put the same SIM in my ZTE Blade I can use the hotspot OK.

Any ideas?
