Guest Karucifer Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 I know what you're thinking, no - we didn't pick up on the story of SwiftKey Mono a week late. There's a whole new, real and all together more useful SwiftKey beta available for download at the SwiftKey VIP site - Swiftkey 3.<br /> <br /> If you aren't a long-time user of Swiftkey the new name may be a tad confusing, but in short Swiftkey X wasn't release 10 - I guess they just didn't have any better ideas for the last iteration.<br /> <br /> Anyhow, the new beta, currently v3.0.0.96, brings a lot of changes - specificially:<br /> <br />2 new themes - Cobalt and Holo<br />Smart Space - automatically inserting missed spaces<br />A larger spacebar<br />Smart Symbol - a 'slide-over' key to access the most frequently used symbols<br />Backup - support for Android Backup for your personal dictionary<br />Smart punctuation - language specific punctuation<br /><br /> I've been tinkering with the beta for a little while and thus far am pretty keen. It's especially well-timed considering the dross that HTC called a keyboard in the stock One X ROM <img src='http://android.modaco.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /><br /> <br /> Source: Swiftkey VIP Download (Registration Required)<div style='text-align: center;'><img src='' alt='' /></div><div style='text-align: center;'><img src='' alt='' /></div><br /> <br /> This item was promoted to the News page - click here to view.
Guest Chris Jenx Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 Just been trying it out, very impressive!
Guest Titas Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 I liked SwiftkeyX but this is faster & easier. Tx for the tip-off!
Guest PaulOBrien Posted April 10, 2012 Report Posted April 10, 2012 Not a fan of the punctuation change but that aside, very nice. P
Guest Chewy11 Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 I just figured out last night on ALL About Android on TWIT that the punctuation button is not meant as a long press to open a window but a touch point IE: a land here and swipe left, stop where needed. This has taken away my grippe with this beta. The rapid function typing style really really untangles the words of a sentence, it's remarkable
