Proximity Sensor Woes

Hi there, I'm having a bit of trouble with the proximity sensor on my Orange Monte Carlo (stock 2.3.4). The problem is basically that after a call the screen just won't come back on. I did a bit of a search round the forum before I posted this (I know there was another thread, I just didn't want to bump it since it was an old one) and I've already tried to official ZTE calibration app, which worked initially. Trouble is that since then I have rebooted my phone and now the problem is back and the official calibration app won't fix it.

I'm pretty limited in what I can do on the software side because I'm not rooted. I've tried every single thing on the forum and countless drivers to try and get it rooted but it's a stubborn little thing and just won't have it. So I can't do anything like sticking a new ROM on it, and I wouldn't have the knowledge of how to do things like editing prop.txt (I believe that was the file mentioned in the thread I saw on this problem).

So I just want to know basically if there is anything I can do or any way I can get the screen to come back to life after a call. There was some other problem I had but I can't for the life of me remember what it was, so for now I'll leave it at this. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Failing that, you could download an app called KEEP SCREEN, which keeps the phone alive whilst on a call.

does what is says on the tin, although its a fix for the symptom and not the problem.

I used the proximity sensor patch ...

you can download here http://blog.brightpoint.co.uk/installing-zte-skate-proximity-sensor-patch?page=5

haven't a clue what it has done but it solved the problem ...

I downloaded the program directly to the phone by the way, there is no real reason for all the usb connections, i think

That's the same as the app I got from the Market/Play Shop/whatever silly branding it has this week. Same result, fixed initially but didn't work any more after a reboot. Even uninstalling and reinstalling didnt get it to work.

Looks like that will have to do, though I don't like the idea of accidentally activating something with my face in call. I've only got to manage for a couple of months or so before the Orange Santa Clara comes out anyway, so I'll probably be able to manage with that, thanks.
