ZTE Blade won't turn on after bad TPT

Hi everyone,

as the title says, my ZTE Blade will not turn on after a failed TPT. If I connect it to the USB charger it won't even light up the charge led, so I think it is really bricked!

So, here is what I've done, so others can learn from my mistake: I've tried to install a gen1-gen2 TPT for the 210 MB system partition. I didn't, however, checked the md5 to see if it was correct. The TPT failed at 93% of the first file (which I think is "amss.mbn"). Now it seems completely dead (not turning on, not charging, battery is ok - measured with a voltimeter)..

So, as I can't even turn the phone on (no recovery, no TPT, etc), anybody has any suggestion? Like another way to "push" this amss.msn inside the Blade's memory via the pins on the back, or something like that? :)

Oh well, at least it was good 17 months.. :)

Thanks for any suggestion, if any,

João Ventura

Hi Lórant,

lucky you! :)

Mine didn't even flash the led as required, so, no way..

I've sent it to repair, it was still on warranty. Maybe I'll still get lucky, who knows.. But already got a 2nd hand Blade, so if the other is repaired, I will sell this one. If not, it will be good as spare parts..

Hi,

Never mind the led.

The key steps are:

1. Make sure the zte blade drivers installed ( http://www.mediafire...aaydo948yg2b7ng ).

2. Get off the battery, press and hold the two volume buttons then connect to the PC with the USB cable.

3. Hold down the volume buttons until the PC found your blade on a virtual COM port.

If step 3 OK, everthing will by OK.

After this point, just use zte flasher ( http://www.mediafire...m1wd4ktfkbd5amh ):

4. Press the ! labeled button to change to administrator then enter ZTEsmt123 as password to enter.

5. In the options menu, select the desired COM port at line 1 (you found it in device manager under ports).

6. Browse SW directory (european or chinese dir included).

7. Check 'download cefs', 'no backup restore' and 'download', the press the little blue arrow under line 1.

After step 7, the volume down and plug USB -> FTM mode works again.

IMPORTANT: To restore Channel1.nvm, plug out your phone then plug in again with entering to FTM mode, otherwise the restoring will be failed.

8. Edit the .nvm file at 0x1215 (start the imei with hex A and use low nibble first, high nibble second order: 0A214365...)

9. Select 'restore NV' and 'RF/BT/IMEI/unlock info' (keep 'download cefs' checked).

10. Press the little arrow.

After this point try to TPT again (or not, if bad files cause the fail) or any update.zip or something you like.

The most important steps the first 3.

Hope this helps!

Hi Lóránt,

thanks for this info. I've already sended my Blade to repair, but maybe TinoValentino can test this on his..

I think I've followed this method (is the number 5 in the pinned topic, correct?), but Windows never recognized my phone..

Thanks for your input,

Hi guys,

I just entered to the club... aaarrrrgghhhh...

I wanted to customize the partition layout. I made the required files with zte partition layout tool, and after flashing, my phone entered to a deep sleep :(

Just the same, and method 5 doesn't work for me too...

Why can we overwrite the factory download mode function? Why I'm so stupid to don't stop hacking my phone after a method 5 torture?

Just to finish this thread, I've sended my Blade to service, and they have exchanged all the main board at no cost.. The original parts are the screen, the digitizer and the back cover. The mainboard and all of its components are brand new.. :)
