New to Andriod- ZTE Skate trying to Root

Hi all,

I am new to the smartphone market, and just got my Orange Monte carlo/ ZTE Skate yesterday. The first thing i did was was unlock it using a guide from Giffgaff. Today i have been trying to root my phone using this guide:

The issue i have is when i am plugged in via usb in debugging mode and double click install-superboot-windows the phone reboots and then just gets stock on the green android man as it reboots. I have to remove battery and they power on again to resume normal phone functions. Love the phone, but really want to root it and get rid of the orange software.
