Idea Blade Custom ROM

Idea Blade is the Chinese version of popular ZTE android enabled device, Blade. In India, ZTE Blade has two variants. Dell is also selling this device with the name XCD35 and another from the popular cellular service provider, Idea. Though both are from the parent device there are differences. While XCD35 is of 512 MB RAM, Idea Blade has only 256 MB. Unlike some of the European version, there is no unlocking feature of additional 256 MB. So if you are intended to purchase a blade device, Dell XCD35 is recommended. However, Idea brings fabulous offers worth Rs. 3500 and is acceptable with Idea Blade.

Idea Blade is shipped with the Android version 2.2(Froyo). Though there is an upgradation option, no official version is declared so far. However users can try customized ROMs on this device. Cyanogenmod 7.2 is a recommended one. It has many features and it is originally built from Google Gingeerbread(2.3.x).

You can read the techniques to flash the ROM in my blog http://techareena.wordpress.com/ . Try these methods at your own risk. I have tested this method and worked fine. However it cannot be the same with all devices.

You may post the queries and I will try my level best to answer it. Always remember, take a back up of your stock ROM before you install any other ROMs.

Caution: In order to play with your ROM, you need to root your device. Rooting is the process of accessing root folders for debugging purposes and it is locked by default. It also prevents malwares from attacking the device. Rooting not only voids your handset warranty but also leave it vulnerable to attacks.
