Guest rossyl Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Hi, INDOOR location finding. I was just in side a building in a cafe (not near the window) with my friend who has an iPhone. I load up Google Maps the same time he does on his iPhone. Within seconds, and presumably using triangulation of cell towers, his iPhone has got a rough location of him. My ZTE blade GPS satellite notification is still flashing, it does not pick me up at all (of course it can't on GPS as I'm indoors), eventually it gives up. FYI: The last locked GPS location was the same for both phones (approx 10miles away from the location of the cafe) Is there any way that the ZTE will triangulate location when it cannot pick up GPS? Are there any tweaks to be made, any App or changes to gps.conf or another file? The GPS/rough location feature has always annoyed me on the ZTE. When out in a bar or wherever, those with iPhone can get a rough lock on location and use an App that finds bars/restaurants/travel points etc nearby very quickly. Thanks, R
Guest brookergray Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Of course it can. Just above the GPS setting. It's called "use wireless networks".
Guest rossyl Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Bizarrely that was always unchecked... now checked it works like a charm. Thanks
