Well no apps support it and the developers did it as a proof-of-concept so a better question is: Do we actually want this right now? I think it's a clear no.

that would actually ease google with all the patent sun is talking of stealing regarding java lol.. however i dont think its smart at the moment

Sure. Run away from a patent troll company to run straight to another company which has patents for filenames longer than eight characters!

No they dont.

They hold a patent for a mechanism used to store long filenames on FAT filesystems without breaking compatibility with old applications.

vFAT which is in use in most modern Linux kernels has a different implementation.

I would like to see it. As a C# programmer mainly, it would be a great experiment, plus, as the project site says, the whole Mono-based thing runs faster than Java (thanks to dropping the limitations of Dalvik, plus P/Invoke)

Will try to drop together a device tree as soon as I get the hang of the new layout :D
