Guest tsr2 Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 I'm setting up a Vivacity for my wife. I haven't really been into unlocking phones up to now, so I'm trying to start gently. Anyway, I followed the unlocking instructions at getandroidfree.com and I seem to have successfully unlocked the phone. At the weekend, there were no obvious issues. The phone was working normally. Today, my wife takes it into London and when she comes back, she reports that she couldn't get past the green Android logo and she's guessing the battery has run out. I can't find the right charger, so I plug it into her Kindle charger. There's no sign of life. I locate the correct charger and plug that in. Still no sign of life. I leave it for a while and try again. Absolutely nothing. I reseat the battery and SIM. This mobile may not be dead, but it's definitely stunned. I have several more goes at reseating the battery and SIM. I try different power sockets but nothing seems to work. I swap the SIM into an old phone and that's fine. I swap an old Virgin Mobile SIM into the Vivacity and suddenly it will boot! It's not dead yet. At this point, the battery indicator would suggest that it's got a good charge. I swap the SIMs back and now it's all working fine. Right now, I'm mystified. Is this a recognisable issue or just one of those mysteries that will never be solved. Is there something I can do to stop it happening again?
Guest raverrr Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 Strange..... The sim should not affect whether or not it boots as far as I know. It's more likely pulling the battery is what fixed it. I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again. But that's just me :)
Guest Reider59 Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 (edited) While it may not be the causal factor, that battery is deadly. The contacts and the battery itself are a poor fit, along with the housing for the battery. I can`t even use the phone with the backcover off because it doesn`t stay connected no matter how hard you press, this would be useful changing ROMS and putting the sim card in after the first reboot. I have had occasion where the back cover has gone on and still no connection. It has to be just right before closing the cover. Either it keeps rebooting or you just get the green android but once the battery is settle its no problem. It should have had a battery slide lock like a camera does IMHO.
