Guest FibonacciPrower Posted May 12, 2012 Report Posted May 12, 2012 Hello. I am planning to buy a ZTE Crescent phone soon, and I have a few questions about it. I know that the T-Mobile Vivacity phone is officially listed as quadband, but other rebrandings of the Crescent phone (Orange San Francisco II and ZTE Crescent itself) are missing the 850 band. Since I'll be using it in Colombia (GSM 850/1900) I need to know whether on the other versions the 850 band can be unlocked, or I must absolutely buy the Vivacity. Also, with respect to the amount of RAM are there any versions of this phone I should look out for? I remember the Chinese version of the ZTE Blade had only 256 MB (unlike, say, the European version which had twice as much), and I need to know whether the same is true for the Crescent. Thank you for your help.
Guest Richard Wolf VI Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 I need to bump this, I'm interested in the phone but can't find much information on support for the 850 MHz band.
Guest BLu3HaZe Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 (edited) I don't think so, it doesn't state that on the box or the phone. This is under the battery on my phone, but isn't the 1800 band also supported in 850 countries? We've 900/1900/2100 here Edited May 20, 2012 by BLu3HaZe

Supporting the 1800 MHz band doesn't mean support for the 850 MHz band. Edited May 17, 2012 by Richard Wolf VI
Guest FibonacciPrower Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 I don't think so, it doesn't state that on the box or the phone. But in many parts of Colombia 850 is the primary band, so I would still have some reception problems. That, of course, would not happen with a T-Mobile Vivacity.
Guest BLu3HaZe Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 (edited) Do you mean to say TMV has the 850MHz which the OSFII is missing? If yes, probably could be unlocked as they both have same internals afaik. @Richard - True, 1800 present doesn't mean support for 850, but what I meant was you could atleast have one band working. PS - All known versions of Crescent are known to have 512MB RAM unlike the Blade, though displays and touchscreens could differ. Eg - I've a LG display with (luckily) a Synaptics (supposedly more responsive than Amtel) 3k touch Edited May 17, 2012 by BLu3HaZe
Guest FibonacciPrower Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Do you mean to say TMV has the 850MHz which the OSFII is missing? Yes, according to this: http://www.gsmarena.com/t_mobile_vivacity-4347.php
Guest BLu3HaZe Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Aha, so it does. Can we get this confirmed by an owner of a TMV, as it should be mentioned on their phone? I don't see why the OSFII is dropping 850 though, maybe Orange instructions as I think UK doesn't have that band?
Guest FibonacciPrower Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 I don't think the UK has the 1900 band, either. But nonetheless, I'm interested in knowing whether the 850 MHz band can be unlocked, and if so, how.
Guest fr0do Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 it should be mentioned on their phone? Where?
Guest irishpancake Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 Yes, according to this: http://www.gsmarena....vacity-4347.php Yeah, but GSM arena also says 1500 mHh Battery?? Anyway, here's their comparison
Guest FibonacciPrower Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 Yeah, but GSM arena also says 1500 mHh Battery?? Anyway, here's their comparison It doesn't say whether the 850 MHz band can be unlocked on the OSFII.
Guest irishpancake Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 It doesn't say whether the 850 MHz band can be unlocked on the OSFII. What I am saying is, I would not take it as Gospel that the Vivacity is actually Quad, just cos gsmarena says it is!!! One early review here says it is Triband!!! I find it hard to get info regarding the radio bands supported on Vivacity, so unsure if there is an unlock method for a non-existent band on OSFII??? Perhaps some others know more, e.g. has anyone brought a OSFII or a Vivacity on holidays to the US??
Guest BLu3HaZe Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 Where? Under the battery like I posted for my SFII, that should be good enough proof to see if it's wrong info on GSM Arena or whether the SFII actually has a band locked away. My mistake on bands in LK, it's 900/1800/UMTS 2100, sorry for the above post. Everything here is very much like UK in tech aspects. 850/1900 and UMTS 900 are not present.
Guest Dazzozo Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 (edited) Can't be arsed to take a picture. Orange San Francisco II Black P736V GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz UMTS 900/2100 MHz Edit: Seem identical to me. Edited May 19, 2012 by Dazzozo
