Vivacity Not remembering preferences - help needed

My vivacity (used as out of the box, unmodified) has stopped remembering preferences when I turn it off. E.g it will ask me if I want to use Opera or the browser that came with it when I open the web. Have I managed to click some odd setting for this to happen? Any thoughts?

I had this a while back when I first got my phone, but after re-flashing a ROM it fixed itself, so yes the update tool probably will help in the same way.

Thanks - will give it a try. Am I right in thinking this will/may wipe the SD card. So if I back it up 1st then re-copy, all the apps that I moved should still work without messing things up?

It won't touch your SD card.
